  1. That would be a neat trick. Before you go steaming in, check the terms and conditions and coverage of the Ford Direct warranty. If trim is not covered, then it may be wise to take the initial offer. The key factor is that the vehicle was used and arguably an amount of degradation may have occurred prior to you purchasing the vehicle. This being the case, there is an inherent acceptance in the sale for being cosmetically sold-as-seen. Always worth going over complete vehicle prior to purchase to get the 'snagging' done as part of the deal. Wish you all the best in your quest for bigger
  2. Yes but this is a 53 plate, so over 2 yrs into warranty. I would accept the 50% if I were you and don't push it. Aftershave/perfume and similar products can damage wheel covering and this is becoming more of a blanket explanation for degradation. If car was new and 2 1/2 months old - definitely go for 100%, but (as an Ex CRC), I think that this is a reasonable gesture for your car.
  3. Not in the market for another Max just yet, but out of interest residual wise, what is the model, miles, age spec of yours - I am toying about downsizing (ahem...to a Forcus ST). I have an 05 Ghia 2.0TDCI, Privacy, Sony, Rev Park Aid with 10k up.
  4. I highly recommend SMART repairers - the Almera that I bought the missus from the local Nissan dealer (coincidentally ex-Motability) had gouges in the bumper cover down to black ABS. SMART repairer did a marvellous job - definitely worth the money if you ask me.
  5. Fluid is 'fill-for life' and does not require periodical replacement. I do not think that the issue you are experiencing is to do with the box internals - more likely to be a shifter adjustment issue. Best let the dealer take a look at this.
  6. Bet its better than it looks though I pass an Audi A8 W12 on a morning and it looks (& sounds) awesome. Suppose the Phaeton is better value for money, though the Audi has that wow factor.
  7. Brake fluid change is a time dependent operation - 2 years, and therefore I would get it done at the 2nd service irrespective of miles.
  8. Yes - this is correct. Same run-dry strategy as the Puma engined Mondeos.
  9. Im not sure about the wheels - not sure that I even like them on the Focus ST. Look like TSW 'Venoms' from a few years back. Whilst a sod to clean, I prefer the previous generation ST170/Current Fiesta ST wheels.
  10. Im just glad that they will post to the UK!! Looks like the 'seller' until a few days ago just bought tat for beauty pageants - wonder what caused the sudden change of hobby, leading them to buy a RS, ship to the US, then auction back to the UK for £1. Numpties indeed.
  11. May well have been that your vehicle was outside the VIN range for the pad replacement campaign. If your brakes were cleaned and squeal has gone, it is unlikely that your vehicle had the specific problem anyway. I seem to recall that the pads and carrier were replaced and this was the only way to rid the squeal (applied to non EPB cars only). Saying that, the fact that they carried out chargeable work without your permission is wrong. Make an appointment and discuss with the Service Manager - you could always vote with your feet if you get no joy.
  12. Ford ususally has a tiered service part structure for pads. There is standard OEM fit, then usually a non-FMC branded alternative (usually made by the same supplier). Sounds like the dealer may have inadvertently  sold you the priciest set. 2 years in market for the Max - would have thought that the cheaper alternative was available, especially with Block Exemption rules.
  13. Item removed from Ebay now - sounds like another unfortunate member had their account/PAYPAL hijacked. I found a classic the other day - a motorbike tuning co with 000's feedback that all of a sudden has 100+ Nokia N70's for sale for £100 the lot (rrp £200+ each). As someone said above, if it sound too good to be true.................
  14. Looks like a lash-up to me. if you look at the rear 3/4 of the car, proportionally it is wrong - S-Max front grafted onto a smaller model. Someone also appears to have gone to the lengths of fudging the reflections in the bodywork. Either that or it is the replacement for the Fusion - isn't VW resurrecting the Polo Done with jacked up suspension and rugged features this year?
  15. Yes - as I suspected in the Battery removal thread. http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... c&start=20
  16. Whats going on here - another Mastertek/tech challenging the title. Are we going to require a grudge match to assess who is the real Master Technician - Mastertech or Mastertek
  17. Seemed to suggest it was lack of linked option pack (Bluetooth & Vis Pack) on the ST forum. Option packs and harness/prewires different for C-Max, so probably minimal effect. Saying that, its the same production facility/line etc, so may be a scheduling issue with knock-on effect to Max?
  18. There is obviously a point to them as they occupy their own (growing) market segment. For some, hatchback is just a bit too impractical, and a monster MPV too large. The interior packaging and ergonomics associated with Mini MPV's is better than a conventional Estate shape, and is certainly less claustrophobic. I have 2 kids, 2 pushchairs, 2 car-seats and it simply did not all go into the car (with luggage). The extra load area height without rake of the hatchback , is just right. Q) Why do Renault do a Megane Scenic when you could have an Espace Why do Citroen do a Picasso when you co
  19. Ah - reminds me why I too refuse to drive Peugeot's again
  20. Yup - despite the current wait for Focus ST, there is no chance of residuals as solid as Golf GTI territory.
  21. Ford checksheets are set up to exclude time dependent operations from the base service times (such as brake fluid/coolant replacement). As far as I know, all Fords (even the old ones) recommended change of fluid at 2yrs. Some of the later Land Rovers have 3yr fluid change - probably down to enhanced spec.
  22. If it was, it will have a DPF, but dont think they were around this early on the Max. Check out your emissions code in the other thread below http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... ht=#646738
  23. Even at the cold end, you can get some pretty extreme gas temperatures at the muffler. I heard that for the 2.7L Peugeot/Ford Lion engine, forced regen temp can be @500 degrees. Guess that it is a good idea to down-turn the tailpipe after all - best keep those cars off ramps when forcing regen - ouch  .
