  1. Times must have changed since I was a CRC. I still used to allow leeway on servicing as long as the claim was not related to engine replacement - 'oil pressure light on' and bang!!
  2. There is always some discretion on the time/mileage if you run slightly over ( though nothing in policy as black & white). When dealers submit warranty claims within the mileage period, they do not need to confirm/verify service history. Ford does not even keep a robust central record of servicing (like VW for example). Now post-warranty is another thing altogether - FMC would want to see proof/confirmation of history before splashing the goodwill.
  3. At least VW's never go wrong.............................Yeah right !!
  4. Nothing wrong with the information system Ford uses - whether the bulletins/broadcasts are read, digested and filed is another thing (Apologies to those switched on dealers & technicians) Ford GB have set themselves up as a 'pseudo-dealer' with a 'Post-box/inbox' so that they receive all materials that the dealers do to judge effectiveness/volume/quality of delivery by agencies/publishers/suppliers etc. I have visited many workshops in my time and have seen special tools, bulletins, manuals still wrapped up in the corner of the workshop. Really is a mixed bag - there are good dealers
  5. Never seen them, but would be a nice accessory. If not in the accessories brochure online, then answer is probably no.
  6. The Renault Megane Scenic has this feature. Not the C-Max ! The auto handbrake release on the Megane is the lever breaking off in your hand
  7. Problem is that you professionally spray and match/blend the bumper/body. Ford sprays the body, then fits pre-sprayed bumpers from supplier. If the colour masters were any good they would match, but this is obviously not the case. Same paint applied to plastic vs BIW leaves different finish. The bumper needs to be mastered to the body leaving minimal variance.
  8. You have to be proactive i am afraid - not a recall, so don't expect the chasing. If it ever becomes a service action and your vehicle is affected, then it will be done at the next visit (assuming parts are available). If Tech bulletin, customer complaint basis only. Get to the dealer and request action - if they have not diagnosed the vehicle previously, expect another trip whilst parts are awaited. Just because Ford (or supplier to be exact) have changed the design, this does not mean that there is any automatic retrospective fitment. Hopefully, the software flash and EGR recalculation Ma
  9. It is the same tank (Gas and Diesel). The difference is that the diesel has 2 litres 'unusable' volume to protect against run-dry. In theory, you cant run dry (and knacker/de-lubricate the expensive High-pressure fuel pump/injectors), as it goes into a 'limp-home' running strategy, similar to the engine misfiring. I am sure that Mastertech can elaborate.
  10. Unless you have some written proof that they lied to you, its your word against theirs. The onus is on you to request/ask to see the the V5 to validate the previous owner. I agree with Catatonic on this one - you have one win under your belt, but there is a limit to goodwill made without prejudice on the dealers part. On the last occasion, the dealer may have decided not to take the chance that you had proof of the vehicle spec, avoiding misrepresentation of sale. For previous owner info - there is no such risk, as it is not disclosed in sales information. Dealer knows that you are un
  11. DTC check is on the schedule and should be part of the standard service - after all, the outcome can provide additional warranty work for the dealer. £20 charge - jog on!!!. These days, the hourly labour charge per hour drives up the cost (as well as the tricky pollen filter replacement on the Max).
  12. Probably on Warranty Prior Aproval - WPAP to stop a blanket replacement of EGR valves. No point replacing if they are returned to the supplier on warranty returns and diagnosed as NFF. Hopefully WDS/IDS disk 41 and subsequent releases will offer better pinpoint tests/remedies to enable dealers to diagnose properly. Does not appear to be any specific build codes/safe VINs with the reported cases on this forum coming from a variety of age/mileage cars. Fingers crossed, my Max will remain problem free on the EGR front.
  13. Based off algorithms and driving inputs, so what you say is partially correct correct. I just measure what I get from a tank on my daily routine - life is too short to worry about manufacturers figures vs. real life figures. Figures for MPG are officially certified too - I am not expecting any software updates that will increase mpg (more likely to get updates to fudge the trip computer).
  14. Not a pre-requisite for a salesman - as long as they have a hand to take the cheque!!
  15. All for the sake of a £6 set of keys - agree with the above and this could get expensive!
  16. Don't worry too much about the codes - if you ever have to input it and it does not work, just get the supplying dealer to give you the code for the Sony using the serial no and bill of sale (and don't pay for this). Out of interest, why didn't you order the Sony stereo as an option if new - you don't get the additional speakers by replacing the stereo?
  17. I think that you will find they call this a 'design enhancement' - bottom line is that all vehicles do not have this issue. FMC are merely reacting to an issue that has occurred on some vehicles in market post launch. Believe you me - with the cost of parts/labour for this replacement, no manufacturer would willingly launch with a 100% anticipated campaign rate. No - recalls are safety critical only, and whilst this is an annoyance, does not fall under this criteria. As for post warranty consideration, it is likely due to aformentioned 'gunge' that a fault would manifest itself before ex
  18. Check out Ford Special Service Message 18717 - Door squeaking noise at high ambient temp. This was meant to be fixed for cars after 28th Feb 05 build, which mine was, but issue still there. The flocked material stiffness is too high apparently and makes noise rubbing on the body.
  19. My bad mastertech - forgot about the electro-hydraulic steering (schoolboy error). Let us know what the issue was RTV.
  20. Not dealers fault - they are simply waiting for the next diagnostics release from Ford. Get dealer to book car in when they have received it.
  21. Don't forget the integrated neon underlighters in that ultima body-kit. If you are really 'fly' you could invest in some twee colour co-ordinating interior lights/LED's too. Must go - my tartan rug on the parcel shelf of the Max is skewed and I need to pick up the spilled bag of Werthers originals from the centre console..
  22. Do your seals creak tesscott6132, or are you just getting them done for the sake of it? Mine are OK when cold, but do creak slightly when weather is warmer. I am just going to live with it - will probably end up with more damage like smoggy above. Just as well I invested in the Sony stereo upgrade - fix for me is rotating the electric rotary knob clockwise
  23. Not just about price justification - I tested a 2.0L petrol before purchasing the 2.0TDCi and it was as flat as a fart. I will pay the extra £1000 for the torque alone.
  24. MMmmm interesting - if the WERS number and FINIS related number are not changed, then the parts will go in the same bin (post purge & freeze). Sounds like a quality problem to me (if they are prepared to keep same part number). Sounds like the mpg/driveability victims may have a solution on the way... Must admit, no issues whatsoever with my April 05 build - maybe I have all this to come???
  25. I will put my money on coolant (engine)temperature sensor (not sensing the temperature of the engine). With this missing input, the vehicle is effectively shutting down into a safe mode to stop any engine failure. PAS failure message is consequential to this - I believe that the PAS is belt drive - if engine stops, so does the assistance and you get the message. My only hang up with this is I have tested a C-Max with an engine coolant issue and went into a 50MPH max speed limp mode with engine temp message on the cluster. Temp sensor still the best bet in my opinion. I
