  1. don't forget the epoxy resin / super glue, so it won't ever be coming off again. my worst fear is losing either Ghia badge from the plastic surround on the rear side doors. i have had to replace 2 alloy inserts so far in a year, due most likely to poor glue at the factory (std Ghia MK2 alloys). don't know why you can't just buy the damn circular badges.
  2. the fuel flap is only locked when you lock the car. if the drivers door is unlocked then it is as well, so you can put fuel in. i always get in the habit of double locking my car (double press the lock button), so if any thieving git gets in, he isn't going to be opening any doors for his mates (and I only have to cover 10 feet of pavement from my front door, before it's clobbering time).
  3. magic tree vanilla, partially open, open glove box, loop round the catch and close again (i'm usually solo in the car for 80% the time). rest of the time, wife gets told not to snag the air freshner with handbag!!!
  4. cheers rocky.....i think i will take up ESP on their £100 price for the Eibach's, and get a local ford garage i use (very good independent, but Ford Bodyshop certified).
  5. I would go with the Ghia, but then I am biased.....:) If you can get the Ti-VCT model, take it, mine is the earlier model without. BUt i have cruise control (handy for long journeys, auto lights (never used), auto wipers (used often) and auto dimming mirror is outstanding for night driving.....
  6. nice prices, ESP has the Eibach's on special for petrol hatchbacks for £99.99 just now. Just need to get my local garage to cost the labour charge for fitting them. http://www.espdesign.co.uk/esp.storefro ... duct/12266
  7. I have been thinking of getting Eibach's for my 05 Ghia, just wanted to know if they affect your ability to go over speed bumps?? Around the Aberdeen area, the local council see to have different designs on speed bumps, none are the same, and i don't want to scrap the car when i go over the square ones around my area. anyone had issues after fitting Eibach's going over speed bumps?
  8. At least its fixable, and shouldn't cost a lot to fix. Hope the fix works.
  9. i have it on my Ghia (as well as the self dimming rear mirror, but you would think for the money you shell out on an ST, they would have them as standard. Either that or they bring out an ST Ghia & Titanium. sometimes Ford can be dumb when they come up with specs for their cars.
  10. never be sorry, thanks for giving me prices to check against. I was sitting at the junction (unmarked) in the indy estate, i had already checked right, but its obscured with parked cars and slopes downhill, so limited POV. After the usual right/left check, as i have done for 3 years, i moved slowly forward, and BANG, he was right in front of me, and it took him several yards to stop the lorry after hitting me. I hold me hands up, it was partially my fault, but he must have been tanking it along that road, and i was less than a foot from the tarmac join of the T junction.....:( Car goe
  11. I use std Shell Unleaded, only once on a long trip have i used BP fuel, and it seemed just the same, though i was doing long distance driving between Aberdeen and Perth, and my mpg went up to 33.1. When i had my Escort Ghia 1.6, i used to stick Optimax in once per month to clean the engine thru, the black stuff coming out the exhaust looked like it smoked 90 a-day. Now i just use Greased Lightning fuel cleaner once a year.
  12. The place where i get my car services, is the best Ford dealer in the area, and has a certified body shop, they do some amazing jobs, even the local police use them. I only got the one quote, as i didn't fancy putting it to Arny Clark's. In my repair quote, painted bumper is £184.87 and bonnet is £128.70, most of the cost will be 'blending' the wings with the new bonnet/bumper and all the labour, which jacks up the costs -- parts alone is only £460, mainly new right headlight (its badly scored with metal shards), silver grille surround, hinges and air duct surround. p5buyn - thanks for
  13. I got mine from here: http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ Just set your car type on the far left, and you can see all the deals in the middle frame. They are still doing the free sidelights offer. I bought 2 sets of indicator bulbs.
  14. ah ok, it makes more sense, since my 4 years NCB would have been Tuesday past, and i claimed last Friday, so i am guessing then, i would have been on 3 years, 361 days still.....  Thx m8.
  15. Just 5 days away from my protected 4 years no claims (I was a late driving learner - i'm 33 this year). I was on the way to work, in one of many roads in the industrial estate, same route driven for 3 years, and i get hit by a courier truck, as i start to move from the T junction. He was lost and in a hurry, and judging by the damage, 30mph was not his speed. I was advised by my friend not to bother the police with it as nobody was injured, and they wouldn't do anything anyway. I had checked both ways, there was a Mini clearing my 11 o'clock, and i went to follow in behind, and then BANG,
  16. Yes i have a set too, got them free when bought the Philips Silver indicator sets. A lot better than the std bulbs.
  17. Last i heard the auto-lock doesn't work on the focus, but it does on the C-Max and S-Max i think, my mate hasn't long got his S-Max and he was looking to get this done for safety with the kids and all.
  18. i know my 5 door ghia 1.6 has full window control for up and down, and control/lock of back windows, but i don't have global locking, as i tried it with both front windows open, and the car just locked, windows didn't budge. Global locking is an extra feature you need to pay for indeed.
  19. i believe the mirrors are heated when you activate the front windscreen heater/demist - the mirror glass heats up. heated windscreen been great this winter, hardly needed to scrape the windows at all this year (so far).
  20. FYI - Powerbulbs have a free offer just now, buy main headlight/indicator lights, and get FREE Bluevision sidelights!!! Are the front and rear light assemblies easy to get into??
  21. Damn it thought it was just me that had that after heavy rain or washing....
  22. I have an 05 Focus Ghia, not really sure what the standard security is with it, i felt more comfortable with my Thatcham 1 Cobra that was fitted to my '98 Escort -- at least if anything hit it (like little buggers and their football), the alarm went off no bother. So far i have had passenger mirror damaged and odd marks on the paintwork/doors (i hate supermarkets), and not a damn peep from the car. Is there any alarms anyone would recommend, what's the cost, and do they invalidate your warranty?? p.s. The Ghia part of the brochure states 'Thatcham CAT 1 volume-sensing perimeter alarm'
  23. They work great and the locking twist caps stop the drivers mat from moving around the foot well -- very handy.
  24. I have the same car, and my MPG has dropped a fair bit driving the 4 miles to from work on the dual carriageway -- sitting at 28.9 just now. Was sitting at 36 when i got the car in late October. Done a few long runs, main Ford dealer (award winning dealer at that) is 12 miles away (staying away from Arnold 'We can't service ur car' Clark's), and the MPG goes up slightly. Just had my 12,500 service, and a few warranty repairs like the suspension creaking, software tune up, start-up issues and 3rd/4th gear squeaks. I understood that your fuel economy goes in the toilet for winter, with all
