  1. Check out this recent thread - 'windscreen replace......now theres a problem, any ideas..' This will probably explain all..
  2. Seen this on another thread somewhere...something about the remote reciever unit which is located on the windscreen and not been reconnected or damaged etc Have a look at the threads involving front windscreens
  3. Can't beat Nero!! It does everything from video/data/audio and converts everything Only snag is it costs about £20-40 from PC World but it's one of the best..
  4. I really wouldn't bother.. I have one and you really can't see anything other than a squinty image of your kids. I never use it as the normal rear view mirror (in dipped position) is much better.
  5. you a salesman by any chance monkeeboy? - great tips!
  6. I would agree with all comments. My 1.6 Tdci (56 plate) is only the 90ps version, but has none of the pull off problems my old 04 plate 109ps model had....(updated faults?) Still need to make sure you give it enough revs at roundabouts though as can be said of a lot of heavier diesel cars My wife drives it and absolutely loves it, and says she cannot tell the difference to drive between the old one. I can...just, it pulls aways actually better than the old 109ps, but runs out of puff sooner. Still great to drive though
  7. I nearly bought a Seat Altea before my Cmax as they drive very well, and look kinda cool in a wierd way. However funds would only allow the 1.9 TDi and it's a bit old and crude now..
  8. I hope that EGR problems are more common on the older models....my 56 plate 1.6 Tdci seems fine at 14K (have I cursed myself?) I do feel though that as all modern cars are so complicated, there is just more to go wrong. I always, funds allowing, sell cars when the warranty runs out, but it still isnt much fun running back and forth to the service department with problems.
  9. TC Harrison in Burton did me a cracking deal when I bought my CMAX from them recently, cant comment on their after sales though.
  10. ...I also dont think that crappy supermarket petrol helps either...low sulphur etc..... I wonder if there is a link between EGR failure and cheap petrol..anyone?
  11. Giving it a blast now and again is a must in my opinion, as is a £3 bottle of winns/millers diesel injector cleaner every few months.....runs smoother too.
  12. 59mpg....obviously eased off the accelerator for the mother-in-law's sake...! It's amazing how smooth you can drive whilst watching that trip computer!
  13. how did you get the voucher? -and is it the air con filter or the diesel particulate filter (DPF) ?
  14. Ian Can I ask which garage this was? thanks
  15. Try giving the inside of the windows a good polish too...Autogylm glass polish is best...dirty windows also mist up quicker in my experience too Also regularly open the windows whilst driving to air the car out..
  16. Good Advice Rob.. When our CMAX suffered a power steering pump failure (at 14 months old!) I was a little peeved that it was going to take 2 weeks to get the part over from Germany, and in the meantime all the Ford dealers' courtesy cars were booked out 6 weeks in advance (!). I was told that only in the car's first year of warranty would I get a hire car. I wrote a stinking letter to Ford CRC, and called them too....hey presto, they agreed to hire a car for me, but just as it was being organised the pump arrived and our car was fixed. Only took 10 days ( with us without a car..) Lik
  17. Has anyone had any problems with rattles/vibration from exhaust/gearbox when pulling off in too high a gear (i.e pulling off from slow moving traffic in 2nd or 3rd)?? - a bit like its going to stall Mine is a 56 plate 1.6tdci (90) with 13k. I would maybe expect this from an older car, or from a petrol maybe.. I sort of think it's because the 90ps unit has'nt enough torque to pull the relativley heavy car away, as my previous 110ps max didnt do it, but I wonder if something has come loose underneath?? Anyone else ?
  18. UNBELIEVABLE...I agree entirely I have to say dealers are notorious for never filling these corrosion/body check pages in......mine never have done on my c-maxes Maybe it's a ploy to avoid paying out on claims - 'your checks were not carried out and stamped, Sir..', or maybe they just can't be bothered. I WILL be asking my dealer to carry this out as per schedule, and if they don't I will try a different dealer.....
  19. I had 2 04 plate 1.6 tdci's and one had the flat spot/harsh engine note at about 1800 rpms, the other did too but was better. My current 56 plate 1.6tdci (90) has no such problems and also manages to average 58mpg mixed driving, 68mpg motorways. I think that the older 1.6's had plenty of these problems as well as the dreaded pull - off problems, maybe the newer ones have learnt from their older siblings....
  20. If you look at say an Audi or VW's paint then look at a c-max/fiesta closely, you can definitely see a difference...more bobbly! (especially in the darker colours) Get what you pay for I suppose but its a shame as Ford's are great cars to drive these days.
  21. I had the same problem with my old 04 plate 1.6 tdci zetec...took it into Ford dealer and they said there were loads of error codes which they reset and hey presto..fixed. Mind you, just before I bought it the dealer replaced the unit under warranty as the Cd player wasnt working..
  22. Also, under where it said my paint colour, it said 'Sea Grey (2)' -does anyone know what the (2) might mean?? thanks again
  23. This looks an interesting site - I have entered my reg no and found my c-max...but can you view it's service history??
  24. Am I just being picky or is the Sea Grey paintwork on my 56 plate tdci Style poor? It seems worse on the front wings and doors, but it just seems a little bit like orange peel, all bobbly... I have seen a few C-max's with similar finishes, but oddly enough not on focus's, I thought at first that it had been resprayed but I think that its just the normal finish, or is it? Has anyone else seen similar paintwork?
