  1. Just what my car needs, another trip to the garage. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. Well mine has been fixed using the TSB and is working properly now. It is a good stereo and the sound quality is really good. Worth the £400 upgrade fee IMO.
  3. I thought it was just me but it did seem to take longer from 1/2 to empty that full to 1/2. It is good that the guage drops down from full reasonably quickly rather than the 50 mile thing on the Mk1, helps to give a realistic indication of the fuel that you have left.
  4. That looks good, certainly much better than the flat side view they used to provide
  5. Mine had a problem to start with as the evaparator was broken but it now works ok. I set it to 17.5 and let it do its thing. I have the air conditioning on most of the time but do not use the auto function as it is noisy when the fan is at full speed. Using it this way still ensures you reach the right temp, you just need to manually adjust the fan speed.
  6. The flip key was originally for the Ghia and Titanium only. However, I have heard that it will be on the Zetec as well shortly but dont know when this will be happening from.
  7. I went through this when I got mine, and ended up with the Ghia. I decided that I really needed a 5 door car. The benefit of the Titanium is the Sony MP3 CD player and half leather seats over the Ghia but you lose Cruise Control. I didnt think I would use it either, but would not be without it now. On mine I opted for the Sony 6 Disc Changer, DEATC and the 17" alloy option. To get the Titanium to the same spec would have cost me an extra £400. (If you think that the cruise control was £250 on the previous Focus, it works out £650 more for the half leather seats). :!: The walnut dash is
  8. It depends on what type of drive you want. If you want the sportier styling and drive, go for either the titanium or zetec. However, if you want the car to have a smoother ride and a more luxurious "country club" feel get the Ghia. In my opinion, the extras that you get with the Ghia/Titanium are worth the extra money. The being said, I am a bit of a gadget man!
  9. Well I do mostly town driving with a short motorway trip every week. I am getting 30.5mpg in my 2.0 petrol with the air conditioning switched on. It is not as good as I hoped, and worse than my Mk1.5 2.0 petrol. Good job that the consumption is not a major thing for me, I only do about 7k miles per year.
  10. I heard on the grapevine that Ford have 3 attempts to rectify a fault and then they should replace the car if it cant be fixed!
  11. I havent, but on I did see in a car mag that you are now able to change the voice to John Clease from their website 8)
  12. ngr123, it's a lot like driving the old 1.6 Zetec-SE; the engine needs a bootful of revs before it starts strutting it. It is the same on the 2.0 petrol as well. The both drive really well normally, but to get the top end performance you need the additional rpm.
  13. I thought that at first it would be a real pain, but after having my car for 4 months, I have kinda got used to it. Having said that, I definitely think the Mk1 had it in a better place.
  14. My Mk2 2.0 does this as well, hadnt noticed it until you mentioned it
  15. I have a rattle now which is coming from my front nearside dash. It has only appeared since they fixed the air conditioning.
  16. As Kevin is aware, I have had a similar problem with mine. It has been resprayed once already but is still awful. I am currently waiting on Fords approval to have it sprayed again under the warranty and get the wing blended in.
  17. My Mk2 is my 3rd Focus (both Mk 1.5 before) and I think it is a much better car, both in looks and spec. Just my opinion thought...
  18. I was very lucky - I rang up to complain that I did not have my 2,500 bonus points from BP following my 2,500 from Ford for my test drive and was told that 30,000 were being added to my account. As I presume this was for the purchase, and I was only supposed to get 15,000, I kept my mouth shut.
  19. It is exactly the same for me, air con on, reduction in power and increase in consumption.
  20. Did they just reset the unit? If so, that does not solve the problem, only makes it go away for a while. The last update I had from Ford is they are working a solution.
  21. I know the feeling. My car went in on Thursday 19 May and they discovered a fault with the air conditioning. I do have a loan car, a 1.6VCT Ghia even though it was hard work to get that. I should have had it back last Friday but something else is broken. I took a similar stance, no loan car till mine is back! I must say that I am appalled by the reliability of the Mk2.
  22. Cant say I have noticed that, but will check. In all fairness, I actually like the positioning of the hand break and the drinks holder is big enough for it to hold a Venti Starbucks coffee without being in the way for me. Mind you, I am 6'3 so that might make a difference!
  23. I am driving a 1.6 VCT at the moment as a loan car whilst mine is being repaired, and have also noticed the absence of power below 2k rpm. This makes a huge difference when driving in traffic, I have been compensating with a heavy right foot as well.
  24. How many miles have you done Steve? On my first few tanks of fuel I was getting about 26 - 28 mpg but it has not increased to 32mpg after having covered 1800 miles. I have a 2.0 petrol, but I still think it is really bad on consumption. Ironically, it should be better than the Mark 1.5 2.0 I had, but it is worse.
  25. When the system says not configured that means it does not know which car it is in, how many seats, what type of trim etc. All of the Sony units are configured based upon the vehicle configuration to ensure optimum sound performance. Your dealer will sort this out quickly. Incidently, I am not sure if you are aware but Ford have an outstanding problem with the Sony 6 disc changer. There is currently an electrical fault that stops the discs from ejecting when you have 6 in the unit, Ford are recommending that you only use 5 discs until they have solved the problem. This does not effect every
