  1. I would stick with standard stuff dot 5.1 stuff. There are good reasons why the manufacturers continue use it when silicone has been out for decades. Google is your friend.........
  2. Blocked Jet ? If it was first thing today then due to the frost last night the fluid might have frozen in the pipe to the rear washer. I have had a couple of cars that froze at the rear and not the front
  3. Have a Look in the archive, been quite a few comments on here about the auto.
  4. Pads suffer a lot of wear to start with as they bed in to the shape of the disk. 10% would not be excessive, also I bet its not exactly 10% anyway, just their best guess
  5. Agree with FFCFocus, iirc there was a spate of these last year on these pages and I think that a software upgrade seemed to sort them out. Didn't folks notice better economy as well ?
  6. Have a look in the sticky thread above re known C-max problems. There is a fix for this at the dealer. I think its a voltage buffer that needs adding
  7. I always give them a piece of paper with the problem typed on it in clear, with my phone number on it and insist that they attach it to the job card or equivalent that they give to the mechanic. Thankfully that bit isn't computerised yet at my dealer
  8. The missus won't be paid for, you always get them on the never, never
  9. Very good Ucsman  Thats the first time I have heard that quip and I have a suspicion we will all be hearing it hundreds of time in the future
  10. Garages employ Mechanics to fix cars and not for their social niceties. The service reception folks can do that
  11. Make sure you report it to plod or there could be problems if there is any come back. :( Do they still send out ambulance fees to the driver for this sort of thing ?
  12. The first problem sounds like torque steer which can only normally be felt in the wet or when you apply too much throttle for the conditions. All hi torque front wheel drive vehicles do this to some extent. It would be worth getting it checked though if it is as severe as you suggest
  13. If it isn't across the EU it may be soon. The UK govt has bought this in in reponse to several EU directives. Link attached confirms this http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/d ... 56-01.hcsp
  14. No they don't need to be Isofix but as the child needs a proper seat until they are 135cm tall from Sept the number of boosters will no doubt increase. Its interesting I just looked at the C-max brochure and it shows a child seat by Britax as an option which suggests that Ford don't sell some of their own.
  15. No doubt with the change in the law re larger kids there will be a load more Isofix booster seats coming on the market soon
  16. I suspect I will need to buy two. One for a small 4 year old and another larger one (probably just a booster) for a big 6 year old due to the new regulations coming in later in the year. I would prefer them to be Isofix. I understood that Ford had their own dedicated range, but perhaps they don't :?
  17. Do Ford sell their own range of child seats for the C-max ? I cannot see anything on their website. Is there anything available ?
  18. I bought a Mondeo from them last year and they were excellent. I shopped very hard for the best price and they were nearly £1000 cheaper than anyone else.
  19. The section on EGR valves should take up at least 20% of any future manual  :sofa
  20. And I see we have just had another thread closed and about to be removed :( Can't some folks on here be a little more civilised to each other without laying the inadequacies of their dealers at Mastertechs door ? The last thing we need is Mr Mastertech to get the hump and go and join other Friendly Ford web sites in exasperation.
  21. There seems to be a lot of dicounting of the C-Max at the moment so I guess that means they need to clear some stocks
  22. Just totting up I reckon I have driven about 10 different diesel automatics and I can't think of any that were really a satisfactory drive. It could just be me but a diesel feels better as a manual. However, the semi automatic diesel truck systems are great but I can't think of a single car maker that has gone in that direction.
  23. If its going in just a couple of minutes its probably only a hose and not something really expensive. If it was a head gasket the engine would probably attempt to hydraulic with that level of water consumption and bend something expensive and you would have noticed some other strange things as well before this happened. I had a Cavalier a few years ago where there was a massive diesel leak that sprayed the whole engine bay with the stuff, it was everywhere. We cleaned it all up (or thought we did) but in the next two years various minor water hoses failed due to diesel contamination where w
  24. My family had a garage for many years and we did always used to get a goodly proportion of cars with flat batteries caused through short journies alone BUT these were only ever really in the winter and I can't recall a single case at this stage of the year. In spring or summer it was usually a faulty battery or alternator. I know modern cars are different with the ECU controlling the charging but to me this does sound like the car is at fault and not the driver or how you drive.
