  1. Reddhedd, I have found the new rules its height only related and not weight and is going to involve some significant expense I suspect. There doesn't appear to be an upper age limit until they are 14 Don't know if the link will work but its on this http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/d ... 11257.hcsp
  2. You are going to be hearing a lot more about special seats for 3-8 year olds in the months ahead. A bill is about to be presented in Parliament that will make them virtually compulsory until the child reaches a certain height. If it all goes through it will become law round about September.
  3. Hopefully the new 6 year emmissions warranty will extend to fuel pumps & injectors ?
  4. There are pictures of the S max on the Geneva show website. There are also some on the Ford Website although I don't know if the Ford ones are the final vehicle or the prototype
  5. The facelift cannot be long. Would it make sense to release it at a similar time as the two other people carriers, so they have a common appearance ? How about the Geneva show in a weeks time ? S Max and Galaxy are there.
  6. To a point I agree Mastertech, my experience tells me otherwise. I drive big miles. I had 3 on my whizzpoppers in 200,000 miles and two in VW's and the service manager at my local whizzpopper garage did describe them to me as a consumable, albeit an expensive one. Not had one in a Ford so far though :D which is great. Oil contamination is a problem. The youngsters who fit the fancy airfilters that are oil soaked, do their MAF's no good just to gain a nice sound and maybe a small increase in power. :(
  7. MAF sensors give problems on all Brands of car. They are almost a consumable in some respects, sadly they are quite expensive. As they sit in the inlet they get covered in any dust or dirt that gets past the air filter. A modern car cannot run efficiently without one though. In the USA VW apparently replaces them free of charge as a lifetime warrantee item.
  8. As are many Ford parts/engines/components and floorpans. Have been for a few years ..........
  9. This is normal with the diesel cars. A diesel engine is significantly more thermally efficient than a petrol and will always take longer to produce heat from the heater. Doesn't the Galaxy have a seperate diesel fuelled cab heater just like on a truck to get round this problem ? Probably only an option on the C-Max in cold countries
  10. I have seen two occasions recently on other forums where folks were ranting about poor mpg and then discovered when it was pointed out that they were not able to convert from litres to gallons correctly that in fact were doing quite well fuel wise. :D Its easy to make an error or not to use enough decimal places.
  11. Interesting that lots of these things are 2006 model year only. Have they changed a few things for this year ? There is a 10% off voucher on that link if anyone is thinking of buying
  12. I have driven diesels for years and am currently on my 6th. If you want economy never rev them above 2500 (you shouldn't need to) and don't use more than light throttle, just let the torque do the driving. Long journies make the biggest difference though. My current Mondeo (C-Max about to be ordered) averages 54 mpg but most of my journies are 30-80 minutes long. Start taking it round the town and you will be lucky to get 40-44.
  13. So is this just a purely temporary software fix until they produce a new valve or is this a perminant fix ?
  14. Markadams69, why ot just take the part number into a UK ford dealer and see if parts dept can get one. They should quickly be able to tell you if its on their database or not.
  15. To discourage home DIY oil changes , why else ?
  16. Thanks, I am sure some folks will find that very useful. As to them being the equiv. of £50, I somehow suspect that it will be the wrong side of £120 in the UK  They do look quite nice though
  17. Must admit, I was never tempted to remove the wire. I guess I assumed that it would go straight into limp mode with it disconnected. Interesting ......
  18. MAF sensors don't seem to be too much of a problem on Fords (no doubt mastertech can confirm) but some manufacturers have shedloads of trouble with them. My previous whizzpopper Vectra got through 3 at £150 a pop and mine was in no way unusual. VW diesels also have a reputation for the same problem
  19. Its nice to know that there is still something on a car that can be temporarily fixed with a tap from something heavy :D I believe it still works on stuck starter solenoids, but that isn't such a common problem these days.
  20. Ford don't seem to have a lot of luck with EGR valves. The guys on the Mondeo forums are always having problems as well, usually mid range misfires  Is it just diesels or are Petrols also afflicted ?
  21. One of the best bits I have found about web forums is that you can generally really criticise someone and no-one cares as long as a/ you don't swear or doubt their parentage b/ You use shed loads of smilies while doing it, the more the better  :D  :!:
  22. Its amazing the clever things that they do with computers now in terms of mocking up how a car will look isn't it ?
  23. Agreed, they should be illuminated as with my fat fingers they all feel the same
