  1. Why not just get the dealer to fit heated mirros! That way they'll get them at cost, fit them for you and make sure they work. How can just changing the glass make the mirrors the heated ones???? That certainly doesnt sound right. I was sold a Ghia that had a coolbox in central console. We asked on test drive how it worked and the salesman didnt know. When we actually got the car we found that it didnt actually have a coolbox. Annoyingly, my partner had binned the details of the car that we had printed from website so we could never prove the mistake and demand a coolbox. I wish you we
  2. Good topic. I shall be in need of a 20lbs+ child seat in the next 2-3months and I had been told about a few very good seats. I shall now make sure that i try to remove the headrest in my 53plate 2.0tdci before i get to mothercare etc to avoid embarassment.
  3. I had my 53 plate 2.0TDCI in garage a few weeks ago with exact same problem. Ive got new EGR and upgrade on program and I must say that car seems better than before. I get better mpg too. I also had the clock fix done at same time. Who said that upgrade would cause more problems? Nicola
  4. I Must be one of the babys of the group then. 33 with just the 1 baby :) Mind you, even thats a car full given all the stuff a baby needs
  5. The EGR valve caused mine to not rev when started in cold. What i would suggest, as car has been private purchase, is that you contact a local Ford dealer and get the reg checked for any outstanding recalls or updates. They should be able to help you. There have been two recalls / updates recently as far as i know. The rear washer and something to do with the power? (Mastertech can possibly give you info)
  6. Maybe Petek should accept that hes probably just bought the wrong car for the job. No car is meant to be driven for that sort of distance using the clutch to control the car. Its handy that hes found some previous cars that will but tbh i think thats luck. We are all guilty of driving cars in a way not intended by the manufacturer and Im sure we will all hold our hands up to that. So please agree to disagree and move on. Nicola
  7. could be me!? Im certainly one of those who doesnt mind a bit of sarcasm Nicola
  8. Dont be scared. As with any make of car there are some niggles. What you have to consider is how good your local dealership is with customer service. I had a ford many moons ago and swore Id never buy another but times change and the dealer local to me was reasonable when i had a problem with the EGR Valve. This forum actually helps by keeping us all informed about recalls, common faults etc. So the moaning does have a purpose. Hope you enjoy your C-Max as much as i enjoy mine. Nicola 2.0TDCI 53 plate
  9. I have to ask: How exactly is saying 'wooohooo' taking the p~ss?? I belong to many forum boards and sarcasm is something that never comes across in writing so how do you know that Mastertech wasnt just joining in with your obvious excitement at having changed your pads? OK Mastertech may have rubbed people up the wrong way on other topics but has also given others some good info. Right you may feel free to tear me apart for my input now (JOKE) :D
  10. We managed a trip from Suffolk to Isle of wight and back with an mpg of 55!!! and the journey there we had mother-in-law, her dog and all her christmas pressies as well as my partner, me and baby. Was very pleased with that!!! Also had the car out in snow for the first time and have to say am very impressed with the way it handled.
  11. They did something to mine when it was in, saying that it was a recall to do with voltage too. Unless of course they thought that was reason for breakdown and it was cheaper option than replacing EGR, which they had to do 3 days later anyway

  13. Suppose opening your flask of tea / coffee when picnicing in laybys does it eh?
  14. Im more than happy with my C-max (2.0TDCI). The odd niggly problem isnt enough for me to sell it on just yet. Its nippy, large enough for baby and all the stuff that goes with, and i get on average 43/44mpg when driving anywhere and everywhere. This may not seem like much but my last car (a 206cc) did 36mpg, was bloody tiny for space and didnt accelerate or drive half as well as the C-max. Just waiting to see what difference the new EGR valve has on my fuel consumption and handling.
  15. Thats exactly my philosophy! Either that or i get someone else to handwash it.
  16. WOOHOO!! Car back today. My partner collected it for me (and is now stuck cos he has both his motorbike and my car at work with him haha) Im 60 miles away so i wont now see it until friday. Garage has changed the EGR valve and some gasket or something too Fingers crossed it wont go wrong again
  17. i dont really want to cut the leather tho. At some point Im sure I shall want to get rid of car (most likely tomorrow if they dont fix the thing) and who'dwant a car with cut leather?
  18. Thank you 1955. I shall look into it carefully. I doubt id use RAC or AA as such anyway as Ive always found them very expensive, especially as i only had one claim in 10 years of using them. Am gutted about the tesco vouchers! only got rid of all mine 5 months ago as i was moving where we have no local store.
  19. Quick Update. Garage have agreed to change the EGR valve and some other part (my partner spoke to them). The part was gonna be ordered for delivery to them yesterday and they were trying to fit it before closing last night. But the part hasnt even turned up yet so Im still waiting to hear when i can get it back.
  20. now that would just be too much excitement for him.....
  21. As soon as i get a fully working car back then i shall look at asking santa for some cover. But for now, if i havnt even got a car theres no point in it.
  22. nick, Thank you, i shall check if i ever get my car back gazza, i would put him in box on roof but i dont want to scratch paintwork
  23. No power at all or can you still accelerate albeit a lot slower? Mine ( a 2.0TDCI ghia) has had to go back to garage today because of no revs a few times. They are replacing the EGR valve and by the sound of people on here, its quite common. Hope you garage get it sorted soon
