  1. Hi, well without the electro-hydraulic steering being fitted I can't see how it can be done. What you experienced might have been due to different tyre pressures or different sized tyres or road conditions... ChrisC
  2. Hi, sorry but none of the petrol 1.6's have this option, as you have suggested.. Taken from Ford's website Electric Hydraulic Power-Assisted Steering (EHPAS) (not available on 1.4 and 1.6 Duratec Petrol engines). The Ti-VCT engive is a, again taken from the website, "1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT Petrol 1596 cc", note the word Duractec crops up in both statements.... ChrisC
  3. "Maybe just lifting the bonnet high enough to trigger the switch!" Yep.... ChrisC
  4. Hi, when I saw it on a road test the bonnet just wasn't shut correctly, however the light and the massege only showed up when I got to around 50-60 mph... ChrisC
  5. Hi, perhaps so but that wasn't the question was it, maybe it is part of the service routine, maybe not Fords though. However you will find that most car batteries, including those sold by Bosch and Halfords, are advertised as being maintenance free... ChrisC
  6. Hi again, my Zetec also has a Ford alarm, is yours the standard one supplied with the car or did you specify it as an upgrade option? ChrisC
  7. Hi, I'venot touched a battery for years, your electrolyte will not need replacing or topping up unless the battary gets a crack in it's case. Forget about it and sleep easy, if it required maintence the there'd be a reference in the manual.... ChrisC
  8. Hi, I think you'll find that all car batteries have been maintenance free for years now despite having 'caps'. Is there not somethimg in the user manual? ChrisC
  9. Hi, yes I've seen this on a Zetec C, also a red light, I assume you had the engine running? ChrisC
  10. Hi, well like for like, I got £4800 for our 02 1.6 Zetec Climate with 34500 on the clock so I'd say you should get more than you've been offered as a P/X ChrisC
  11. Hi, whatever it is it would be nice if Ford's actually did some research and informed their dealers what the issue is and how to cure it, seeing as so many of the Focus's are having this problem. I'd be interested to see if replacing the track rod ends cures the problem, mine had the creaking and replacing the tie rod bushes and top mounts seemed to cure it... ChrisC
  12. Hi, I thought it was the tie rods and top suspension mounts that caused the creaking, not the track rod ends, they are different. Are you sure you mean track rods ends? ChrisC
  13. Hi, all air con will not work below a certain temp, I think it's about 4 degrees C? Chris
  14. hehe rofl, however if you don't want to go blind, try grasping the top of the door metal first, then put your feet onto the ground.... ChrisC
  15. Hi,yes I'm one of the 100 co-owners that will tell you otherwise, if, by normal driving you mean keeping to the speed limits, yes it will be fine. It is much better than the outgoing Focus in terms of torgue and drivability. I have driven over a mixture of town, 'A' roads and motorways and I find it more than adaquate in keeping up, or being quicker, than the pace of the majority of drivers. At the end of the if your wife is happy with it, as my partner is, and even she noticed how much better the new Focus 100bhp 1.6 is compared to the old 1.6, then surely that's what counts.... ChrisC
  16. Hi, can no-one help me? I just need to know where to look as I'm not sure if they actually replaced anything but just gave then a lub... ChrisC
  17. Hi, taking it back ito the dealers monday so they can again listen to it. So can anyone help with where to look for these bushes? ChrisC
  18. Hi all and guess what, one week on and about 50 miles and they're queaking again. Has a look underneath and I can't see any signs of any new bushes. What should I be looking for? ChrisC
  19. Hi, "Deffo not a cooling sound! More like a relay switch!!!" dunno what it is then, my 1.6 doesn't make this noise, perhaps it's what andy says... ChrisC
  20. Hi, mine seems so much quieter since thay've been done I can now hear every other noise LOL ChrisC
  21. Hi, as the catalytic convertor has to run at high temperatures I suspect the noise you are hearing is as it cools down. I also belive that diesels have something similar? ChrisC
  22. Hi, just a snippit http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/comin ... aspx?id=73 ChrisC
  23. Hi crockett, mine too :-) but also had the tie-rod bushes done as well... ChrisC
