  1. I looked into getting a VW Golf but the salesman was very disinterested and although it was very nice they are bloody expensive and I was gonna get a really low trade in price for my mk2.5. So I opted for the mk3 and although initially I thought "Am I going for second best". Ten weeks in and I don't regret it. The car drives fantastically, it's well built, quiet and equipment levels are excellent for the zetec. The only downsides are, Every Focus I see seems to be white. And the 17" wheels that come with the appearence pack look fantastic but are a sod to clean!
  2. That's lovely! I've seen a few zetec S's over the last couple of weeks and it's making me wonder if I should've spent the extra cash and got another one. They aren't quite as sportily styled as the mk 2.5 zetec S but it's still lovely. What extra stuff do you get inside?
  3. It's still an inconvenience for you Bryan. Is it MSL who are supplying your car? I think they do a lot of different insurance companies.
  4. Here are my pedals. The clutch pedal is about 1.5cm higher than the brake pedal, and the accelerator about 4cm lower than the brake. All looks and feels fairly normal to me.
  5. It sounds like you need to find yourself another insurance company Bryan. When I had a rear end shunt in 2009 I had a dual controlled courtesy car delivered the next day, and it was a Sunday. And Ninepine, my car isn't a titanium but it does have stop/start and the clutch pedal is very sensitive and only needs a slight touch to start the engine. As far as the pedal height is concerned, I haven't noticed any difference over my old mk 2.5 and the 20 odd people I'm teaching to drive at the minute haven't mentioned anything, and normally they would be first to mention any major differences. I wi
  6. Well I've eaten my words because last week I picked up my zetec 1.6tdci 115 with appearance pack, and I love it! I've dropped engine size from a 2.0ltr but performance is still excellent and fuel economy about 10mpg more. There are still parts of the body I cant quite get my head around yet but the positives far outweigh those.
  7. I swapped my first mk2 when it was 3 years old with 67000 miles on the clock for a brand new one in 2008. I was expecting it to be very different to drive feeling very tight and sure footed compared to my old one. When I picked it up with 6 miles on the clock I was surprised and a little disappointed because it felt exactly the same! My current mk2.5 now has 55000 miles on the clock and is coming up on 2 years old and is the best built focus I've had with not a single rattle, no weird noises and as far as warranty work carried out its had both bumpers resprayed due to peeling lacquer and a re
  8. I really can't make my mind up. Some of the colours are vile but I saw a colorado red one (same as my mk2.5) coming towards me yesterday. It looked nice at the front but the side view was not so good, the wheels were too small in zetec trim. And the back end is just a big fiesta. And the fuel cap is awkward looking. I'm sticking with my zetec s for a while longer and then probably switching brands. Volvo C30 or VW scirocco.
  9. I bet when they turned up they'd look like something from the pound shop!
  10. Well it sounds like they're trying to spin you a yarn so they don't have to pay for one themselves.
  11. I can't remember exactly but we're talking well over £100.
  12. Hi. I don't have the car anymore but I had a 2008 zetec which just had the standard key when I bought it brand new. My local Evans halshaw made and programmed a flip key for me. They needed the car for about half an hour to program it and it was expensive. But it can be done.
  13. Well I sat in one today and I prefer the interior to the exterior but it's a sea of buttons and unusual angles. I suppose because the mk 2/2.5 interior is so simply laid out it's a real contrast.
  14. I really can't make up my mind if I like it or not. The bonnet looks like it not closed properly and the fuel filler flap looks awkward. I'm going into my local Ford dealer on thursday to have something done to my mk2.5 zetec S so i'll have a closer look, but I don't think i'll be rushing to sign for anything. Artilleryman, You are probably over the moon with your new car and in a couple of years time when we've all swapped our focii for mark 3's you can bring this post back up and I can eat my words! :?
  15. I wonder if they could do it for a diesel without making mine sound like a tractor. I've always thought the back end deserved a better exhaust.
  16. My students love it and it's very well behaved. And when I've finished work I take off my signs and let boy racers eat my diesel fumes! Within the speed limit
  17. Heres mine. 2.0 tdci 136bhp with sport pack, Sony DAB stereo.
  18. Have you priced up the zetec S pedal covers? They'll definately fit and look better than those.
  19. Yes that is a help thanks. there is a longlife exhausts centre not too far from me. I'll have to contact them and see if they can do the same with the tdci.
  20. That's a lovely looking Zetec S Mikeymp3. I particularly like the twin exhaust and would like to do something similar to my own. Some info about it would be greatly appreciated. :D
  21. Well my 2.0tdci never goes up to the half way mark on the temperature gauge even stopped in traffic. it's normal.
  22. Me neither. 21,000 miles on the clock and about 3mm left on the fronts.
  23. I think you'd be disappointed with the 1.6 petrol zetec S. The engine wont live up to the cars sporty looks. Try and get another 2.0tdci, I think you'd find it'll hold it's value much more than a small engined model. I've been very impressed with mine and the fuel economy compared to my old 1.6 petrol is excellent. not to mention performance but you'll know how they perform already. A friend of mine recently got a 09 plate 2.0tdci zetec S with 10,000 miles on the clock for £14,100 on the Ford direct scheme.
  24. Me too, or the mk2.5 clear lense ones like i've got on mine.
  25. I got my 2.0tdci zetec S in august and have put 20,000 miles on it since then. It's loosened up really well and has been problem free upto now. I use my car to teach people to drive so it can get a bit of stick from time to time but it behaves itself and doesn't get confused after a bit of stalling (unlike my old 1.6 petrol.) I get about 40mpg while i'm teaching which includes a fair bit of manoeuvering and standing still with the engine running for a while and a bit of over revving from time to time, and when i'm driving it's nearer 50mpg. Performance is really good and the engine revs very s
