  1. Last new car i had said don't take it above 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles. I did this a work collegue didn't bother (we both had the same cars). After 30,000 miles his needed oil added monthly. I never needed to add a drop to mine!
  2. Kwikfit quote £119 per tyre for Continental Conti-Sport Contact 2 Tyre Size 205/50V17 So that sounds pretty good.
  3. That's a good question. When i had issues with blistering Ford badges, i was told the existing 12 month warranty for trim was not extended each time the badge was replaced. This means if we have new (old type) egr valves fitted to get us through the 3 year warranty, when they eventually die (the day after the warranty expires according to the design spec  ) we will all be landed with a bill to replace the faulty valve!
  4. Hmmm, ok a bit of a sweeping statement but you get the point! I do agree, I think they did get their sums wrong. But, since the VSP fix my only issue is the over sensitive dash which is what the Voltage buffer should fix. We'll have to wait & see if it does.
  5. TSB 11/2006 adresses the problem caused by the instrument cluster being a bit too sensitive to drops in supply voltage. Its cheaper for FMC to fit a device to provide a temporary supply to the cluster, than it would be to replace all our instrument clusters with a revised design. I think the underlying problem here is the 12v system in the C-Max is a little under powered. It is only really noticeable on the 2.0 TDCi which draws one heck of a lot from the battery during cranking. Too much is taken from the battery & not enough is being put back in. What is worst for the battery?
  6. True, But it can cure the symptoms. Voltage set point i assume increases the charge output from the alternator during cold weather, which leaves the battery in a better state of charge, which in turn reduces the voltage drop during cranking as the battery has a higher charge, which reduces the occurance of the brown out reset, causing the clock to reset. Phew !
  7. I think the handbrake only releases quickly if you have pressed the brake or clutch pedal at the point of pressing the button. Otherwise it needs to be held down. Need to check up i may be wrong.
  8. long gone are the days of the simple analogue radio Computer says no! :brickwall
  9. The sequence of codes does mean something. Its a message from the immoboliser as a 2 digit number. you will get a series of flashes then a pause... then another series of flashes then a pause... the cycle then repeats. Usually the message means something like failed to read the key transponder. I'm sure if you post em someone will tell you what the code means I too removed & fully charged the battery (i have just had the voltage set point fix). The car has been good for a few weeks, but i noticed at the weekend the clock has reset itself again! off to the dealer for tsb 11/2006
  10. The peugeot version of the 2.0 tdci is pretty good. The power delivery isn't as smooth as the c-max but it does go like stink! I've got a 307 hatch at the moment its quite a bit smaller than the missus C-Max but its a whole lotta fun with that lump under the bonnet!!
  11. froglet, There is a fix for the cluster reset. FMC have release a voltage buffer that is connected in the supply line to the cluster. It provides temporary power while the engine is cranking to stop the drop in voltage that resets the cluster. Not sure if it's available yet.
  12. There is a known issue with wiring connection to the seatbelt pre tensioners located under the seat. This causes the airbag light to stay on. Moving the seat can temporarily fix the loose connection making the problem go away.
  13. The magic question is whether the DSP can be disabled by the WDS to give a flatter response. There are dsp options on the head unit by i cant remember if there is one to disable it. (i'll have a look & edit my post). The dsp is preset to match the speaker & trim configuration of the car, so it definately wont be flat. The loudness system by design boosts the low & high frequencies at low volumes & progressively flattens the response as the volume increases, so again no flat response unless the volume is very high, or loudness is turned off. The Sony unit is a bit Bass heavy
  14. It may depend on the head unit you have. I've got the sony mp3 in a Ghia & that has the Aux in Socket. I found it by accident it isn't mentioned in any documentation.
  15. More than made up for when dusting the buggers at the lights!
  16. Welcome to the club! I'm sure you'll love it!
  17. I guess adding a temporary supply as a retro fit is cheaper than a new version of the instrument panel pcb!
  18. DVH, I wouldn't be put off too much by comments in the forum. What you get here is a collection of owners with issues looking for a solution. Generally finding them too! You don't generally get people posting, ohh i had a lovely drive in my C-Max today.... If you asked most of us if we would buy one again i think nearly everyone would say yes. There are too many Ford dealers who provide very poor after care, but a lot who are very good! I would much rather see peoples real comments about a car & have somewhere to come to share opinions & knowledge! This forum is a very good
