  1. I would say that the rear of both the Focus CC and the Astra are just as hideous as each other!!
  2. I'm on about the normal petrols. I really wouldnt like to drive a car that struggled to reach 20mpg!!
  3. It depends on your definition of horrid i suppose - I love mine as it's got petrol performance off the line and is reasonably refined. Also it murders most things once on the move and averages 45-50 mpg to boot! What have you got? The mk2 or the mk1.5? What engine? I know you used to have a mk1.5
  4. Prefer my mk1.5 The mk2 is IMO too much of a grown up refined Focus, designed for the middle aged!! (sorry if this offends!) Unfortunately, the motoring press agree with me. Also, nearly all of them are the horrid PSA diesels! (sorry, had to get that one in) and the petrols are gutless due to them being strangled even more due to emissions. Honestly, if I sold my focus, I very much doubt I would buy a MK2. If I stay in the Ford camp (Even though I have driven fords since I first drove a car as a learner) I'll probably buy a Fiesta ST :D or leave Ford altogether. :(
  5. Ford use the 1.8 8v Lynx engine as it is the most reliable Diesel that they have, apart from the Puma diesel engine. I also think it sounds the best out of the lot!!
  6. I prefer the 1.8 myself in both the mk2 and mk1.5 It is a bulletproof engine, that can be found in the 2007 Transit Connect, the S-Max and the Galaxy. Out of all the diesels, I prefer the sound as well on the 1.8. Still prefer the sound of a petrol!!
  7. So i was told, the clean wasnt that good, but who cares!! 8)
  8. And just how long did you have to wait for your turn? Andrew Didnt go down myself, allot of the other lads went down though. They even got their pics on the bubbles n babes website, but my workplace wasnt happy, as the lads had the company's logo on their clothes!
  9. I don't think I have seen one of them?. If i cannot be bothered to wash my Mk2, I tend when passing to drive into one of those manual car washes in Leeds where a little team of 5 or 6 people wash it and leather it down manually for about £6.00. Pete On of them opened near where I work. Only difference was that the car was washed by topless hot ladies! http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006160400,00.html
  10. Sounds like the centre did the lock nut up with a buzz gun. Get the centre to remove the stud, as they must have damaged it. If the stud is still ok, and the key is just damaged, get a Ford Service Dept to remove the lock set with their master set.
  11. Just get a standard CR2032 battery, even Morrisons have them.
  12. To test if the fob works, buy one of these off ebay. Keyfob Tester I use one at work, and they are spot on!
  13. Eh up fella, I was missing for a while (fitting junk to my car probably) For some odd reason, most friends I know with Focus's didn't get their rubber mats either, it seems Ford dealers couldn't be bothered fitting them. They actually come in the glove box on delivery to the dealer. Look on ebay and see how many dealers are selling bits from your car   Yes, they do come in the glovebox, but they are not fitted during the PDI, because the valeters wont clean under them! Then, it is not the job for the valeters to fit them, so they either get junked, or left in the glovebo
  14. Auto's are heavy on juice, simply because they dont have a fixed drive to the gearbox, but a torque converter that always slips by design. If the converter could somehow "Lock" when needed, economy would improve allot. Thats why Durashift computer controlled manuals are better than conventional auto, as it has no slippage from flywheel to the wheels.
  15. One sugggestion I can make out is that as the wheel rotates, the force of the rotation pushes the valve end out towards the alloy, and that then makes contact with the paint, and wears it away, allowing water to penetrate. Either that or as when the valve was fitted at the factory, it cracked the paint around the hole.
  16. If your car still has its original enigne in it, Fords tend to use the last numbers on the end of the chassis number for the engine number.
  17. I'd rather change my fluid every 2 years, just to flush out any wear and tear off the seals etc. Funnily, I had a brake fluid change today!
  18. Still looks like a popemobile!
  19. Yes, and the new ones even have particulate filters.
  20. Go to a genuine Ford dealer in the future, as it is under warranty, and the mechanics have more experience with Fords.
  21. I saw a mk2 focus in at work, and they took the light cluster out on the offending side, then used silicon sealer around one of the bungs underneath the light.
  22. The only thing I can think of that could leak over the engine is the injector leakoff pipes, as they are soft. I dont know if they could stop a engine running though. Still learning about these TDCi units, as I've always been interested in petrols.
