  1. Surely the plastic fascia around the radio can be changed, as i'm sure that the radios would be the same, just the plastic fascia? i was wanting one a while ago. then i decided to get into photography, so my money went into camera lenses :D
  2. i can start my engine when in gear... tried it before, in neutral
  3. Ahh, just googled it, and it's to stop you starting the car when in gear really. puts you into the routine of starting the engine with the clutch down, which makes it easier for the engine to spin i'm guessing, as ther is less to move on startup with teh clutch disengaged? it makes me think that maybe there is less strain on the engine, and therefore less wear on startup, and less current drawn from the battery????? :?
  4. Clutch pedal switch?? Never heard of that before, where abouts is it?
  5. If you're still not sure, i'll get my fusebox out tomorrow, and post a pic or two of the fuses. it's a 20A micro fuse you'll need.
  6. when you take the carpet off, the carpet which is hiding the fuses, have a look at what it says on the other side. mine had a map of what fuses did which. bear with me a few mins, i'll grab a few pics. If you have a diagram like this, it's the one that i've highlighted. Got mine sorted in the end, got a pack of fuses, £2 from motor world, then the illuminated cigar lighter holder, £4.50ish, then i got a cover to stop loose change from shorting the holder again...
  7. Looks smart. Specially with the lights.
  8. if it's like the focus headlights, look around the base of the light housings, you'll see some clips, you need to push them down with something like a screwdriver to unclip them, there are a few around the lights. they should then be able to wobble out.
  9. Basically, i came to use my power outlet yesterday, to pump the tyres up a tad. Cut a long story short, found that the power outlet doesn't work, nor is it fixed in the car, it's been snapped out at some point. Reckon the warranty would cover this part of the car? as last time i took the car into the dealer for warranty work, they were arsey about it. it's a mk2 zetec.
  10. sell it privately for £10k. then again, i got my 1.8tdci zetec '56 plate, with 10k on the clock for just under £10k.
  11. I'd just keep them nice and clean and silver. Saw a guy in a silver corsa the other day who'd painted his rear drums red.. Lots of lols were had in my car, as it looked pathetic.
  12. INstantanious fuel?? i don't have a trip computer that does that, just the average MPG, speed, distance till empty, temp, mileage, and that's bout it.... no instantaneous fuel consumption. It's a mk2 zetec climate too... :/
  13. May i add, that services can be done at ANY garage, doesn't have to be ford. To keep the warranty though, ford parts need to be used. That could save a bit of cash. My dealer told me that when i bought the car :)
  14. 12k or 1 year :) As for service, i haven't had one yet since i got my focus, only had it coming up to 3 months.
  15. Yeh.. Xenons need washers and self levelling. thatts IIRC. but i know FO SHO that they need washers.
  16. If you have the tools, i.e iirc, a T40 torx head, and a few other sockets, then the job will take you 10 mins. That includes the 5 mins to take the wheel off. Literally, take the caliper off, take out pads, push pistons in, with a seal check, bit of copper grease on the back of the pads, pads in, caliper back on, wheel on, then take it VERY easy until you have the pads bedded in.
  17. makes me think, thank goodness i have a full sized spare. :P
  18. Best to spend more on tyres to get decent rubbers, than to skimp. Tyres are the biggest thing affecting the handling/ acceleration and the braking. poor tyres = less grip. I know i'd prefer to spend £100 more to grip the road rather than smash into a wall.
  19. and i wonder why fl icking is starred out..
  20. So i was messin with the car when i got in from work, and i never noticed that the light switch presses in and turns left to turn on dim sidelights. i was WOWing. Didn't even see that when flicking through the manual.
  21. Champion are good. I can see the old factory from my bedroom window...
  22. i noticed a lot of difference from going from sport to comfort. The comfort was a lot lighter than the sport, this was especially noticeable on faster, straight roads. but i find sport is a reasonable amount heavier than comfort.
  23. Just picked the car back up. They've replaced the speakers, and also put in a newer headunit. It's all a bit bassy atm though. At least it sounds decent.
  24. You say that they are shorter gears, yes, they're shorter, but you get a greater speed to rev, if you understand. i.e you can be doing, in 2nd, 20 at 3k revs in a petrol, where the diesel will be at 1500, and the 50 at 6000 revs, where the diesel will be at 4250 That is only an example. Yes, they don't rev as high, but you still get equivalent speeds. But diesels tend to have to shift slightly earlier. Then again, why rev a diesel? all the torque is low downQQ
  25. It's going back tomorrow. My dad is taking it, as i have got to be in university early in the morning. He's also going to question the new headunit that they put in, as it's a different one that i had originally. They put the one with CDDJ instead of an AUX button. So he's gonna try to get another one, with the AUX, and also get them to change the speaker.
