  1. Not true I'm afraid. Official date for 1st orders to be placed is 1/10/2005 (If your genuinely interested in buying one PM me about this!). 150 Electric Orange cars are being built for delivery to dealers in December as demonstrators/display models. Official launch weekend is 14th/15th January 2006. Unless you place your order VERY early and your very lucky, don't expect to drive away your new car til this date.
  2. Please see my post on the following thread: http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86709 *Edited for clarity. Dave - Majestic12*
  3. I work in sales at a Ford dealer. If anyone wants to PM me with their name, address and contact number I'll be happy to calculate a privilege price for them. Please consider the following when PM'ing me: 1) I'm busy at work, if you really aren't serious at all about buying one please respect my right to earn a living and wait for "official" price lists to become available. I'm offering to do this as a "heads up" for the those that genuinely wish to be one of the 1st on the road. 2) Give me as much info as you can about the series you want. The car is set to be available in the followi
  4. Yes it is possible - I think the "how to" is in the manual somewhere but I havn't got one around that I can check at the moment. Failing that, your dealer can certainly set it up.
  5. I've been and had a chat with a few of the (very experienced) technicians at my dealership and it's not good news I'm afraid. Apparantly the Ghia/Titanium have different looms to Zetec/Zetec Climate, different modules etc. Therefore the cost of adding auto wipers/lights although technically feasible would be ridiculously expensive. Rough estimate? About £2000.
  6. Just to clarify, if you buy a mk1 or mk2 focus in the UK, it'll have been made in Germany or Spain.
  7. I'll have a chat with them and get back to you later today.....
  8. We've been through this before on another thread in this forum. General jist of it was manufacturers "inventing" things you don't need. Yeah, like you don't "need" remote locking or electric windows. Bet you wouldn't buy a car without them now would you? So is it really a case of manufacturers inventing useless options or are they simply devoloping products that people want to buy? As far as adaptive headlights go, my opinion is this: Don't knock them until you've tried them. When you try them, I'm sure you will find (as Kevin clearly has) that they have definite safety benefits. If how
  9. Bit of both really - it's thoroughly updated and reworked but as with most "new" engines it's an improvement and evolution rather starting again from the ground up.
  10. I can't see that your legal rights will be affected. Ok, so there's no fix for it at the moment and using 5 discs may be a bit of an inconvenience. I'm sure the reason dealers will have been told not to replace units is probably because a solution will be found quicker than they could order you a new one anyway.
  11. True! Not that I don't want to help, but parts isn't really my area of expertise.
  12. Yes, discounts are same as before. Save for average £200 price increase applied across range in middle of April.
  13. I've just recieved a memo from Ford stating that TDCi is once again available on the Privilege employee discount scheme. Prices are on average around £200 more than before - this is owing to a general price increase during April.
  14. Screens quite often crack on new cars, not just ford's or foci - so don't worry about it too much. Even if its a heated front screen, they're not really anymore difficult to replace - it just sorta plugs in.
  15. If it was me, I'd be quite happy to sort it. But if Ford can't supply us (as a dealer) with those mats, where do we go? I would encourage anyone disatisfied with their mats to take it up with the CRC and to mention it in their "Viewpoint" satisfaction questionaire. There's a space at the end of the form where you can add any other comments. Really sorry I can't help with that - it's a parts dept. thing - maybe Tezza could help?
  16. This has been pretty much exactly the case at my dealership. Titaniums have been coming in with no badges (may well be because I think Titanium is unique to UK). I havn't had any Titaniums come in with Ghia badges on but I have had Titanium badges on order since DECEMBER and they STILL havn't come through! I'm sure if you speak to any other Ford salesperson they'll tell you they're as bemused as me as to why this should happen. It's a bit of a pain in the bum to be honest as there are more productive things I could with my time than chase badges but I do understand customers want their car
  17. I think the 1.6TiVCT is about as good as you could possibly hope for a 1.6 petty engine to be. That said, if you subsequently drive something more powerful you'll be thinking you missed out - but really just think about what a great engine it is in it's own right. There'll always be something thats quicker, whatever you buy. (With the possible exception of a Skyline tuned to 900bhp.)
  18. Er... Focus has never been made in Dagenham? Last car built there was fiesta. Escort was built up in Halewood - don't think any of it would make any difference though. I hate saying this, but British built cars from volume manufacturers have been rather flimsy at best. MG Rover anyone?
  19. I think you have to do that on the Mercedes A-Class as well.
  20. The trade plate is in place of tax but it has nothing to do with insurance - your covered by the dealers policy in that respect. Where possible, we will always try to test drive in an "official" demonstrator or used car that matches the spec your interested in. When that can't be done we'll use a new unregistered one. It's perfectly legal although not ideal as the car won't have loosened up properly.
  21. Dont scrap it! Give it to me instead!
  22. I'd say go for the 2.0TDCi, you won't miss the mondeo's power that way. Don't worry too much about delivery lead time, if your ordering the euro stage 3 rather than the 4 it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Safety wise the Focus has tons of kit and has a higher overall NCAP rating than the mondeo. In terms of interior space I don't think you'll be disappointed with the focus either - with the exception of the boot which although large for the class of car can't match the mondeo's, but then not a lot can!
  23. Nope! If a car has mats as standard, they put them in at the factory. If it's a model that doesn't come with them (i.e LX) then they're dealer supplied.
  24. I've only had one car delivered to my dealership with interior styling pack and it did NOT have the logo'd mats. It seems some do, some don't - if you really want them how about taking it up with the customer relationship centre? It's not the dealers fault, it's definitely a ford thing.
  25. I should clarify this - To qualify for the offer, the car must be built, registered and the finance paid out (i.e you've signed documents etc) by 30th June. It is conceivable that if your car is built by 29th June you could do all this and then physically drive the actual thing away when it turns up 2-3 weeks later. The car HAS to have been built coz you can't register it without a chassis number. And if you can't register it, you can't invoice it. And If you can't invoice it, you can't finance it. Phew! :D
