  1. Get yourself one of these (or two or whatever) http://www.shop.edirectory.co.uk/babybi ... r&cid=1814 It stops bits of sweets etc going between the the cushion and backrest of the seat as well as keeping the seat clean. (If you are condsidering the footrest shown on this site, I'd not bother as they are too fiddly, flimsy and don't adjust to the right height) Just bought a set of lockwood sill protectors (4 parts) from ebay for £22 and they seem very good. How are the Ford ones any better?
  2. Which model (lx, zetec or ghia) is it and which engine is in it? Thanks Eddie
  3. I was thinking of having rear and rear side and rear door glass tinted as per privacy glass. I assume that they use a film on the inside of the glass. How is this different to how it is done at the factory? Is it durable or does it get scratched easily? How much would I have to spend? Anyone able to recommend someone to do it in my area? Lots of Q's ....TIA
  4. I didn't realise that the new laws required them to be isofix. What age range does that apply to?
  5. I find C-max EPB more reliable and easier to use than one I used in a Laguna in France. It was supposed to release itself but sometimes did not and car stalled! It also applied itself when I stalled the car pulling onto a roundabout! My wife likes EPB in our C-max (once she got used to it) as she isn't scared that she's not put it on fully - It's either on or off
  6. Handy for waiting in the rain for car to be recovered/fixed....
  7. And 'LOS' means?... Load of S, Yes I thought that too!
  8. What's that odd thing in the boot? Is it part of the car? Mine doesn't have one
  9. Sometimes find things that have dropped out of my pockets in there! saves them disappearing into the abyss under the seat where things fall nicely under the flap of carpet never to be seen again! Only beast in my car donated its skin for the seat coverings!
  10. Do you pay less road tax for driving on the pavement? Don't spoil those nice wheels going up & down that curb! Seriously though, that's the colour I would have chosen given the choice but they seem few and far between.
  11. I don't quite follow the significance of having bolts rather than nuts as I notice the holes in my alloys are quite a bit bigger than the studs so can't be siezing on to them. centre of hub is a tight fit though.
  12. Apart from vey short journeys I tend to get mid 50 mpg but it all depends on driving style I have managed over 60mg on a long run (230miles)with full car, keeping below the legal limit. However, over 2000rpm and the mpg is mid 50 mpg again. Car is '04 reg 1.6 TDCi Ghia Manual
  13. I remember once when some kind person threw a brick through the rear side window of my old astra and I had to drive it about 40 miles home I had ringing ears from the noise for ages after wards. It was jolly cold too! That's what you get for crossing the border into Yorkshire though! They didn't even take anything! :x
  14. My nearest ford dealer has a rapid fit centre incorporated in it so I would assume they are part of the same company.I fell out with this dealer ( broken bolts left in cylinder bores!!) before I had my car serviced so I don''t know about rapid fit etc as the dealer I use now is smaller and has no rapid fit.
  15. Since I had my rear pads changed about a month ago, the brakes have been squeaking when doing a long slow down (?) eg at end of a motoway/ duallcarriageway even on our front street when coming downhilltowards the house. Should I take it back or has too much time elapsed? I didn't notice it at first as I hadn't been driving the car myself.
  16. Just open the door and stand on the sill!
  17. I think I paid £250 on Ebay for the set with good tyres. They are in good condition. I don't know how that compares. I agree there are some nice wheels around but I don't fancy the added insurance premium that goes with it. :scatter: Can you still get those discs that go under the wheel to keep it clean? Are they any good? Do they affect cooling of the discs?
  18. I'm planning on swapping mine when the tyres on my Ghia wheels (gear wheels?) wear out as I bought a set of good 2nd hand zetec ones with good tyres. Anyone got a set of chrome nuts to go with them? or will I have to resort to covers? I think the Zetec ones look better as well ( They are also over 1kg lighter- bet you didn't know that [or even give a monkey's !]) I saw a zetec with steel wheels and covers the other day so maybe that's the way to go???
  19. I believe that it requires servicing every 6 months at a cost of £300 or it will invalidate your warranty
  20. Yes, that sounds about the same size cut out as done on mine. - almost invisible (Witter detachable supplied & fitted by local firm - £299)
  21. Why don't manufacturers use silicone brake fluid these days as it isn't hygroscopic?
  22. So DIY changing of the fuel filter is not recommended is it? I got some air in the system in a car once doing this.
  23. Yeah, OK I got it now, use the volume control!! Can only get half of it in anyway so I don't think there is anyway that it is needed as mastertech is suggesting. Thanks for your help guys. ...Just have to try and get AVC working on it now as the settings seem to make no difference to the volume - just stays the same all the time!
  24. timing didn't seem to be the problem, It only let's me do it if the the unit has been in radio mode and the key is turned to 1st position. So I've got the code in now, pressed button 5 and have got blank screen apart from clock, how do I put in the VIN? the preset buttons don't do anything at this stage! :?
