  1. I cant believe this thread is still active........ Can I just confirm that in the last 6 months, my clutch has not started smoking and as I am selling, probably never will
  2. Cerium dosed DPF's like on the Max are a bit outdated, but no IR catalysed choice at the time of development to get to Stage IV. I suppose that is why the general fitment practice is now catalysed DPF's (a la Mondeo in Germany). Life for the latter is supposedly 150k miles (lets see  ) Does not matter whether we like DPF's or not - they are often required to certify the car for emissions or meet an in-market requirement for the 'greenies'. In Germany, it is likely that in the future (intro tbc) a vehicle without DPF/aftertreatment will be unable to enter certain city centres (zoned)
  3. I thought that LeeM was banned due to the copious amount of irrelevant, subjective and inciting drivel that followed any posting? I can personally handle the blunt approach from Mastertech - works for me. I would hope that customers are spared the same treatment (JD Power is not just about product quality but overall customer ownership experience - including dealer interfacing).
  4. Sound like the parts manager dropped a bo$%ock to me. Not difficult ordering 4 parts as per the bulletin, and there is no update.
  5. Thanks - Currently has 12k on the clock. How did you sell yours chap - Ebay, Autotrader or other? I am not even going to ask the Ford dealer about trade value to be told that market for them is low (only to see it on the forecourt with £3k mark-up)
  6. A sad day has come - due to a new job with business car, I have to sell the C-Max. Whole year of ownership without any issues and genuinely one of the best all-round cars I have owned. Considering the Autotrader route though from a national search, can only find 2 C-Max private sales for model, so little to compare to. Vital stats: 2.0 TDCI Ghia Stage III May 05, 05 plate Machine Silver Sony single disk/mp3 Privacy glass Reverse park Excellent condition Anyone sell a similar car recently? I reckon £10,500 - £11,000 for private sale. Bit sad seeing that the car was just shy of £20,0
  7. For factory fit privacy glass, it is the glass itself that is tinted as far as I am aware. Still, I am sure that you can get good results from a reputable mobile tinter - if it is good quality film, scratching will be less of an issue. Don't be tempted to go DIY film tinting under any circumstances - its like plastering (not as easy as it looks!!) Probably looking at @£150 for rear windows - not sure on rear screen coverage as heating elements may cause a problem - usually front and rear side glass achieves the affect required.
  8. Ford have done instant mpg meters on some of their earlier cars with computers (inc the 1980's Jag XJ40's). Complete waste of time!! If you booted it, the mpg showed single figures, if you backed off the gas downhill, it went into triple figures. The averaged trip meters on todays vehicles are not bad, but not always accurate either. Agree that it is a better feature to have than eng temp gauge - I would be happy with an amber/red light if there were any cooling issues (though I am not going to lose any sleep over it).
  9. I take it that your Max out of warranty? (hence the DIY diagnosis). Plugs are cheap enough to change yourself, though the coils will be more costly to swap-out. This could be a costly exercise - the dealer should be able to diagnose both plugs/coils at fault though.
  10. I have used it on a new XK8, also with Keyless start, and I think its great. You dont even have to dock the fob before starting (shirt pocket job). Just got to be careful that you keep the key with you. Not sure how it works on the max - is it a fob-dock and push-button start?
  11. This is normal practise - each dealer gets a pack of brochures and given the option to buy more. Those tight-wad dealers  Somehow, I think the margin is there to allow for a couple of packs of brochures.
  12. No chance - not until the C-Max is 3yrs old from launch at least. No point in selling it until a suitable park of vehicles are outside their 3yr warranty. I bet they will do a combined one with the Focus. Reckon we will see one by 2007/8.
  13. Brackets standard, but dealer fit kit (or DIY parts) required.
  14. Forget it - helps them meet their accessory targets for Ford/parent group. No real benefit whatsoever.
  15. Fair play, but Ford are not into lip-service/knob polishing (no pics please  ) so I am reading that they genuinely want to see his car to understand the issue.
  16. Saw one myself yesterday - very impressive. If I was not getting a company car soon I may even have made a bid on one.
  17. All part of putting the customer back into customer service - who says Ford don't listen. Smoke that in your pipe all ye non faithfuls (Leemar***). As I say, it pays to be honest, and provide constructive comments/feedback without prejudice. Good luck Mini Me - hope the Dunton boffs can alleviate your issue and concerns - let us know how you get on.
  18. You don't get paperwork for warranty fixes - because Ford paid for it. What you are entitled to is a description of the fault and remedial work, though it would appear this was by-passed by inadequate service advisor. Do a search on this forum as Mastertech advises (very old ground) and all will become clear.
  19. Reliable? - yes it is (now) generally. EPB's are fairly commonplace across several brands now, so no real issues. There is an emergency procedure to release should it fail. Aint that complicated either - simply a motor that engages the brake as opposed to a yank of the arm. As for hill starts, its just something you get used to - find the biting point as you would do usually, then release the handbrake and balance on throttle/clutch. Must admit, I never did ride a conventional handbrake on hill-starts. Don't believe there is any 'hill-hold' like on the Subaru range, but you will get use
  20. Probably silicon polish (spray) or another OTT cleaner to renovate the interior trim - may be removed if you apply more. Ask the dealer what the valeters use.
  21. Problem is that I have to sell (well in a month or so anyway). As they say in Autotrader 'Company car forces sale'. Will be dabbling in the private sale route - Ebay and Autotrader first me thinks, though the prices are hardly different.
  22. Know it seems pricey, but these custom accessories are usually better quality and fit than these generic 'Motorworld' specials. Do you know anyone with a Max that gets privilege discount - would be > 40% off.
  23. We specced up an S-Max 2.5 Turbo with toys the other day and got to £32,000 - Gulp  . Hope the residuals of this model are better than the C-Max - I worked out that my 05 plate 2.0 TDCi Max with Sony, Metallic, Privacy and Park aid is £10,000 trade (over £20,000 in May 05). Strangely, this is not the case with the Audi A6
