Oh no - I can imagine a certain someone filling in several sheets of A4 for the 'other (negative) comments' field. Hope the model does not get deleted from the survey like the majority of his threads/posts

Newbie - How can you tell a 1.6TDCi 110 from a 90?
ucsman replied to slowv6's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
I am sure that there is an engine code difference which will either be stamped on the block and/or plate. Will check latest ETIS and repost tomorrow if someone does not beat me to it. -
...and suddenly the £40 labour charge seems reasonable.

Mmm - runs in the Ford family - 2 years and counting and still no diesel auto Jag X-Type. Hope the 18 month estimate is on the conservative side.

Don't make the Ford = Jaguar = Aston = Land Rover software assumption. The Range Rover navigation will probably still be running on a BMW system architecture and software. Nav mapping discs contain a little more than mapping data, and I am positive that this will not work. I would heed the advice of tomtom70.

Hope those new ST owners are not too disappointed to see their wheels adorning a people carrier.

Sounds like a surpression (interference) or loose connection issue. Interference unusual for standard factory kit. Either a dealer job or if you can get a set of removal keys, check radio is connected properly.

Rubber mallet! Problem is that coppa-slip cannot be painted on the hubs in production due to contamination risk (e.e applied to disc surface). In workshop environment, this is done if the dealer is worth his salt and checked brake pads/discs properly.
-
I think the dealer is referring to the same issue i.e. for brake squeal fix you have already had. Handbrake adjustment required instead perhaps - I don't believe the C-Max is of the (troublesome) early self-adjusting Mondeo variety. Has the dealer seen the car yet??
-
These things can be easy in general to break, but I know of no issue on the C-Max. Early X-Type Jags had hairline cracks near the hinge and they used to break off easily. Dealers were sympathetic in terms of warranty, but only when the fracture-break signs were exhibited. If I were you, I would try an online car-breaker search for the filler flap as new parts, spraying? and fitting will be dear as you say.

Calling all C-max owners! quicky help needed
ucsman replied to a topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Yup - same paint pot, different label. Now about that (non-limited edition) 'Tangerine dream' paint to replace the ST (limited edition) 'Electric orange' -
Never really noticed the difference between the settings on my 05 Ghia TDCi - bit of a placebo/costume jewellery setting IMHO.
-
I don't think that your insurer is trying hard enough - sometimes model ratings for limited editions slip through the net, but not on this occasion. Definitely a case of 'computer says no' with their database. I would ring them up again and quote the ABI (Association of British Insurers) rating number for the C-Max 2.0L Petrol Ultima of 17549501 - this model is in group 13E (a group higher than the Ghia). There is no difference in insurance groups for manual and autos in general, but I would hate to think that they may question a claim should the info that was 'added to your file' be misp

Wiper looked similar to the one fitted to the wifes late-plate Almera - what do you know 'Made in France' stamped into the plastic (bet thats the only French part Nissan allowed on the car though)
-
Not really - there was no official TSB, just a 'dealer comms' bulletin, and the body & trim warranty is 12 months only. I guess that the dealer does not want to chance getting the post-warranty claim bounced. I had mine in for the 1st year service this week, and also mentioned the seals (inferred the bulletin). Dealer adjusted the door strikers and the creaking stopped. Just hope its a long-term fix, as I have noticed that it differs in climatic conditions. You could always fit the seals yourself, and ask for some goodwill discount - 5% or so is reasonably achieveable.

I see that you are familiar with the issues of street parking in Darlington topgazza.

Not yet. Hate to say it guys, but I have the feeling that the town aint big enough for 3x MPV's in the Ford stable for the long term future. C-Max, S-Max and Galaxy. I believe that the C-Max facelift will be a light freshening - lights, bumpers, interior trim contrasting colours and body colours etc, and then it will bow out gracefully in 2008/9. S-Max kinda fulfils the original brief for C-Max (mini MPV with 7 seats), and given the 5/7 seat options, the C-Max will have little to offer other than a price advantage.

ciggy lighter from green to blue???
ucsman replied to CrAzYs_FoCuS_SE's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Erm - not unless you ordered the no-smokers option - dealers default to smokers pack to cover bases. Cigar element illumination colour is determined only by the coloured plastic bezel back-lit with a standard bulb, with the socket being standard size. If you can find a car that has a blue plastic bezel around the lighter, you could use this. I am thinking VW - would match the blue-backlit dials. -
Dealer should have checked on ECat anyway - what were they thinking?

Creaking Door Seals (one of the old favourites)
ucsman replied to tesscott6312's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Oh no - I have just asked the dealer to look at them at my service on Tuesday. Surprised that the backorder is this long though - seems that production has no problems in sourcing them for the door-build station.  -
That would be the Ford 'standard fit' A-pillar windnoise - every Ford of my seven or so in last eight years had poorer windnoise compared to other marques. 'Switch-off' info display illumination is standard - goes off after 20 mins or so.

You can check yourself with the checksheet generator for Etis: http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/se ... 98.wasv244 Just put in the details of her car.
