  1. i got my 1.6 eibach's from ESP Design/Rude Racing: http://www.ruderacing.co.uk/Suspension_ ... Mk2_(2004+)_Suspension-Ford_Focus_Mk2_(Hatch)_Suspension/c713_804_823_825/index.html you will also get 10% FFOC discount.
  2. low revs help, some longer runs too, but also check with the dealer you got the car from, the ECU may need resetting or updating. if you change the LCD screen to where it tells you the MPG, try pressing the stalk button in and see if it allows a reset, if not the garage will have to do it. once you get it done, fill the car and go for a long drive, like on the motorway and hold it at 55-60 (the sweet spot) for a few miles, if you have cruise control, it make the journey a little more relaxing. then check to see if its increasing. you may need to get a fuel system cleaner to wash out the s
  3. i was lucky to get my ghia set replaced last year when my engine few its spark plugs due to a valve fracture, it was just under warranty, and Ford paid local dealer/garage to rebuild the whole engine, and replace the jets incase it had been leaking, got new plugs, leads everything.
  4. I use Pirelli P7V's on my car, got about 15k from one set, and just changed them before Xmas @ £82 per corner.
  5. i got more than 15k miles form my Pirelli P7V's, just got a new 4 set fitted before Xmas and they just chew through the snow, and little/low noise when on dry road - £82 per corner. Car came fitted with them when i got it in Oct 06, changed Dec 08. The garage said they could have done a few more months, esp. the back ones.
  6. yeah its good stuff, and covers all minor scratches for a few days, ideal when getting ready to swap your car......wet day just after you ICE'ed it. buying car, choose a dry day, so you can see any marks.
  7. I changed mine a few months back, ready for winter, best to change the whole thing and its takes minutes to do, and yes the passenger side is shorter. The rear blade is also a dealer part too. http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcWipe5.asp?c=2&d=1 http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/product-de ... on=6&ID=25 You need a 26" and a 17" Aero blade for the front.
  8. i have uprated all my main bulbs in my MKII (sides, dipped and indicator) all bought from the Powerbulbs website and with FFOC member discount too, the side bulbs were free as part of the main order. takes about 10 -15 mins per front headlamp to remove screws and clips (to maintain watertight seal) and add your bulbs, and use kitchen towel or cloth so as to not touch the bulbs direct. http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/index.asp
  9. well done on getting good service, i normally avoid those places, though i do like the Ford dealer in Inverurie, at least they have a proper bodyshop and Ford trained techs. hope your repair costs are not too high. how old is the car??
  10. what would i need to consider if i were to ask to get my rear wheel drums changed to discs in my MKII Ghia?? I currently have disks at front and black/brownish drum at the rear (yeah Hammerite needed)! Is it a bug job, or done as part of a service?
  11. The Ghia has the standard interior alarm and window/engine sensor -- its not sensitive enough for my liking, i would like to know if somebody is rocking the car, scratching the paintwork or trying the doors. my old Escort had a Cobra fitted, with perimeter and tilt sensors, and i park on a bus route road and it worked great, especially when footballs got kicked at it or kids riding too close with bikes. my Focus has a lot of scratches from car parks and street parking, and it never makes a sound.
  12. Pirelli P7V's are on my Ghia, just about gettign ready to change them, had them 2 years and their starting to lose a little grip. Bets price i got was £82 for LOK in Inverurie (good Ford dealer). martin, i do remember Colin's garage, they were ok when i had my Escort, but repairs were getting pricey and the damn charges for screen wash were getting annoying (i always filled it before servicing/MOT) and still had to query the charge.
  13. if you still have warranty you should be ok, but i have never heard of this spring snapping before. coming home tonight it was creaking quite loud......must get some WD40 on it before my long drive to Fort William on Sunday.
  14. yep standard if the vent positioning dial is pointing 'north' to windscreen only - took me a wee while to figure that out in my ghia too.
  15. nice one. all i have done is fit a K&N filter, JVC MP3 player and uprate all my bulbs, Phillips Brilliance bulbs are excellent when driving around Aberdeenshire at night, especially with AFS!! i would get Eibach's fitted, if i could find someone to fit them without costing an arm/leg in labour costs.
  16. i have always used the Greased Lightning petrol and engine oil kit, it's roughly £20 for the kit and usually used every 12,000 miles or once a year, i usually do the fuel clean a few weeks before its service and MOT, and laugh as they re-run the emissions tests......169k/g CO2 my * * * *.....i should be getting a road tax discount going by my last test!!! i noted less vibration in the engine, better cold start and fuel mpg goes up slightly, depending on journey/distance covered. http://www.netparts.co.uk/store/index.p ... d72a6a8842
  17. i fitted a K&N panel to my 1.6 a year ago, good pickup on response, and i average 34mpg with a few long runs, but with 4mile to work each way in traffic, it frequently drops to 32mpg and below, i've started staying back at work till after 6pm to save wasting fuel, thought my local Shell is now selling @ 99p a litre. 70 mile per hour revs are about 3,300, if find you get best mpg keeping it at 3,000 or less. now i need to get the servicing/cleaning kit for the K&N, as my local servicing garage doesn't do this (i wouldn't have expected them to). The sticker is fitted to the outer box
  18. lol, the infamous yellow ka's. Best person to speak to is Stan if he is around, and if need be get him in the car with you. the steering wheel should not be off centre, but its a hex nut if i remember right on the MKII, and the air bag needs deactivated/removed to get to it, sound like a front alignment issue, or balancing (i'm guessing here). but its an insurance repair, so only accept it when its fully done to your satisfaction. you can try asking for a bigger car, just say you need it for transporting the family, and a Ka is no good.....:)
  19. will give it another go when it's not horizontal rain........which around Aberdeen means next April/May when we have our 3 days of summer.
  20. got it repaired by LOK, spring cost less than £4, took nearly 4 hours of bloody labour to strip down the clutch system to get it stretched and re-fitted - they had never had to do one before... me thinks its time to consider upgrading the 05 Ghia MKII, mind you i have only had it 2 years this month.
  21. i have found that you cannot buy a rear wiper blade for a MK II anywhere, apparently they are a dealer only option, though i just bought new Bosch aero blades the other month online, and the website also said they cannot provide a rear blade. no idea what Ford were thinking....
  22. I assume this is something to do with the tension on the clutch pedal, as its very spongy, after i left work late last night - just went to reverse the car out the parking space, and BANG - spring has sheared off and landed on the footmat. car is drivable, not great in traffic, as getting bite point is tricky, as its very soft and has no tight feeling it had before. checked with LOK garage this morning at very early o'clock, and there are none available in Aberdeen, so need to wait for it to be ordered. anyone know what this actually does, why doe sit hide under the sterring column and ho
  23. i have the same marks on my rear Ghia 05 alloys, and i couldn't get mine changed before the warranty ran out. there are a few refurb places that can fix them (yellow pages or google), even seen a mobile unit in the Aberdeen area.
  24. ok good to know, not got round to soaking it in WD40 yet.
  25. i use the ICE wax too, but keep it away from glass, it smears badly. use RainX or Rainaway (from Greased Lightning), it lasts for a couple of months, or just regular washing and a decent wiper blade. i sometime use the Armourall Glass wipes for heavy duty glass cleaning, picked them up in Costco.
