  1. The first thing happened to me as well but this was 8 or 9 months ago. According to my car expert mate, this is normal and can happen on all cars fitted with a hydraulic clutch. I also found the bit of plastic on the floor but couldn't work out where it came from. I have covered about 5k miles since, all seems fine. Car is going in for service soon so if anything is a miss i hope they would let me know.
  2. Not sure about a wiring change, but the Sony units do come with 8 speakers rather than the standard 4 when they are selected as a build option. They are a £200 and £400 option for the MP3 and 6 disc changer respectivly. I can only assume that if they were going to do the fitting of the speakers in the dealership it would cost extra and that might be why you have been quoted £600. Seems really high though!
  3. Hendy Ford in Southampton area charge £134.99.
  4. I had a loan car once, a 54 plate 1.6 petrol and the shift light came on when i got near the red line. I have a 2.0 petrol, but dont want to try it in mine!!
  5. The auto mirror is standard on the Ghia and Titanium and IMO is really good. No more fiddling arround when a car behind you has its lights adjusted.
  6. Dont think you can stop it from displaying. If the clock is losing time or just changing completly, there is a fix available from Fords which is an update to the software. If you take it into your garage, they should be able to do it in a few minutes for you. Had the same problem myself.
  7. I had the same problem with mine, date kept changing to somewhen in 2001 and clock to 9 am! Took it back to the dealer and they uploaded a software update. This fixed the problem.
  8. I find with mine you just set it to the right temp and let it do the rest. If you use the fully automatic mode then the fan is really aggressive if it is really hot or cold. What I do is to use the fan manually and adjust it if required. I know that takes the fully automatic part out of it, but you dont ever have to adjust the temp buttons to achieve the right climate. Worth the money IMO.
  9. This is a piccie of the DEATC fitted to my Ghia. IMO, it makes the dash look a lot neater.
  10. The garage can connect the radio to their computer and program it for the type of car it is fitted to. It just sounds like the salesman couldnt be bothered to swap the radio out of the demonstrator.
  11. I have it on my Ghia, and it is brilliant! If you have to pay for it, I would say it is worth the money!
  12. I had the same problem with mine and the date kept resetting as well. If you follow FocusFans advice, that will solve the problem, did for me.
  13. I have been listening over the last day or so and I can hear a clunk as well when I pull away from standstill. Would like to know what is causing it as well. My car enthusiast friend has suggested that it might be is the clutch for the air conditioning?? Please can other 2.0 petrol owners let me and Soundstyle know if they can hear the same thing.
  14. Mine foggs up too but I dont think it is any worse than the previous 2 Focus that I have owned. Yes, I think it is a Ford thing as my dads old Mondeo was exactly the same.
  15. I am surprised they said that, I watched a dealer remove mine in under 1 min.
  16. I had the DEATC fitted to mine and I wouldnt be without it. The system is really good, you can set the temperature and basically forget about it. Many people see it as a bit of a toy, but I think it is worth the £400!
  17. I had this problem with my Sony 6CD system. What ever I did, I could not get the time and date to stay after turning the ignition back on. I took the car back to the dealer (they are just up the road from where I work) and they uploaded an update into the car. It now works fine.
  18. I had the passenger airbag support bracket left loose which was really annoying. Everytime you went over any sort of bump you got a loose screw noise, it was fixed by the dealer though. I also have a vibration coming from the passenger door arm rest which generates a squeaking sound. That also seems worse when cold and I dont notice it when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Apparently a bit of WD40 between the top and bottom part of the door arm rest should solve the problem, I will try it when I get the chance.
  19. The Ghia and Titanium have follow me home lights. If you pull back to main beam lever when you have swtiched everything off (including the Radio) the lights will stay on for 30 secs after you close the last door or the boot. This is very useful! You can also switch them off before the time delay has run out by pulling the main beam lever again.
  20. I have had a mk1 2.0 Ghia with all round discs and have now got a mk2 2.0 ghia with all round discs as well. The brakes on the mk2 are much better than the mk1, they feel much more responsive.
  21. New cars come with road tax as part of the price, you should have a full 12 months.
  22. Not too sure about the first 2. I think I remember reading that the doors could be programmed to unlock drivers door only but it had to be done by a dealer. The aux in is only on the Sony MP3 and 6 disc changer though.
  23. Switch to the temprature display, and then press and hold the reset button for a few seconds. This will change the temperature back to Celsius whilst keeping MPG for the consumption.
  24. I had a rattling noise coming from my dashboard as well following repair to the air conditioning. It was coming from behind the glove box. Took the car into the garage and it turned out to be the passenger airbag support bracket.
