  1. Never under estimate a gut feeling. I have ignored these twice with cars and it cost me dearly with both cars :(
  2. Just been looking on their web site and they now call the policies Majorcare & Extracare. I also looked at what is covered and it says that items them shown in the list are not covered and guess what......... No mention of the EGR valve :( If the EGR valve was covered I would take out an extended warranty, but as the main C-Max week point is not covered I do not see much point :? Are there any other after market warranty companies worth looking at? Andy
  3. I think that if you pull the lever at the bottom of the seat in the boot area this will release the catches. Then they should engage when seat placed back down. Hope this makes sense! Andy
  4. If it is only going one way I would think it more likley that the switch is at fault. Good news is that should be easier & cheaper to change than the motor :)
  5. If the paint on stuff does not work then a new screen is required :x
  6. Brake fluid should not be that high and that is why it is leaking. Probably safe, but I would garage to correct this. As for A/C. Could be a re-gas is all that is needed or there may be a fault with the system. Again garage should sort. Andy
  7. If you go onto the Witter site www.witter-towbars.co.uk you can down load the instructions that also include removing the bumper :D
  8. Easy way to find out, remove a bulb or unplug a light, start up car and turn on or activate that light and see if a wanrning comes up :) What age and model is your C-Max as someone here will no doubt know if it has bulb failure or not.
  9. This sounds a good idea - I would be interested in the details of the above, please. So would I. Warranty company I approached did not cover the EGR valve so we did not bother with a warranty when Ford one ran out a few weeks ago.
  10. I am not sure about the Ford screen. This would depend if there is an audio out, if so then you can use an FM modulator.
  11. Depends if you have bulb failure warning or not. We do not on our LX, so standard wiring kit was all that was required. Andy
  12. My Cobra ones work fine as you just reprogram them. Not sure about Ford ones. I use my tow bar for a 2 bike carriers. The Thule one is the better one and fits on the actual ball and hold 3 bikes. Plus I use a Witter one that allows me to tow at the same time has having bikes on. If you are not towing the Thule one is the better one, plus it has a built in trailer board. Halfords were selling it for £99, normally £149. Andy
  13. Fitting a Witter bar is no problem. Requires the removal of the bumper and a small bumper cut that is not visible unless looking under the car :) The Witter bar comes with instructions that explain how to get the bumper of and where to cut it. Fitting is a case of unbolting the bumper bar that is held in place with 6 x 13mm nuts. The bar then has 2 side strips that slot into chassis and are held in place with 4 bolts that slot in through existing holes. You then bolt the bar with 4 bolts to these. Put bumper back on then fir neck & ball. Fitting instructions are on the Witter we
  14. Not sure about the car. But what is your local Mazda dealer like? I think that with all cars the dealer makes a HUGE difference! Andy
  15. I had same noise. And it is the top mounts, but all Ford garage did was lube them, but noise still there :( Out of warranty now and noise not noticable unless parking with radio off. C-Max will not be going back to Ford for the 4 year service unless it needs to plug into the computer. But with any luck I won't need Ford anymore as I have a mate who has laptop and all software to talk to the Ford ECU
  16. I can see why you would want to change cars. I would after so many EGR valves :? I am lucky as the 1.6TDCI does not seem to suffer as badly with this problem. But if it goes again in a short time (was swapped in July07) I would think about swapping cars, but that would depend on if Ford Customer Relations were to conribute to repairs!
  17. I complained about my C-Max's aircon temperature when it had its first service, but the service guy was adamant that it was within the right temperature range. I have to have the air-con on full for it to have any effect. My friend's Pug 307 goes freezing cold on full. Our C-Max air con is great. But now it is 3 years old I t is not quite as good. But they do say you should have is serviced every 2 years! Chap that did mine said that when new the air con is never filled up correctly and will allways be better than new after a service. THis was certainly true with the Kangoo :)
  18. Friend of mine has a brand new MK5 Golf TDI and it spent most of it's life at the garage with engine running (or not) problems. So they swapped for another new car, and this has the same problems  I have also heard that the latest VW TDI 170 BHP engines have oil pumps that are failing and killing the engines :? In the end it comes down to how good your garage is. Plus there will allways be some cars that seem to have all the faults. I have had various VW's, all with over 100,000 miles on the clock and all were great cars except for the 1990 Passat 2.0 GT 16v, this just kept on
  19. Hi, and welcome to the Forum. Our C-Max had the same problem when we bought it. Turned out that the windscreen had been replaced and was leaking. Windscreen had to be taken out, and refitted. We then dried car out and it has been OK since. But it may not be this. Get under the bonnet with a torch and look for any gromets that are loose. If it is the windscreen and you have a chip you could get it changed for arround £50 under you insurance. HTH Andy
  20. 1.6 TDCI can have this fault as we had ours changed in June. Since it was changed, I do make a point of giving it some welly on occasions to ensure that all the crap is blown out.
  21. Ditto. Mini, one of the most fun to drive cars, BUT I had to take the engine out 3 times in 1 month. I then sold it. And I had an F reg XR2. Bought it at 1 year old with 12,000 miles on the clock, 2 1/2 years later with 76,000 miles clocked up I had changed raditor, battery, carb, shocks, exhaust, brakes (they used to last about 6 months), rev counter, speedo cable and the worse thing was that the boot floor under neath was very rusty and had gone through in a few places, it was under 4 years old :!: Most relaible car was a SEAT Toledo, old shape on a P plate. Battery, disks & pa
  22. I know I am tempting fate mentioning this, but we do seem to be seeing very few EGR valve faults on the forum recently.. Could it be that the new valves were uprated and that the lastest software has done the trick? Wonder if the battery discharging over night due to the ECU protecting it's self will have been fixed by latest Software update. We will find out in next few months when it gets colder! Fingers crossed. Andy
  23. Result :D But I am suprised that it went wrong so quickly. Alternators used to last for ages. My Corrado VR6, MK2 Golf GTI 16v & 8v, Passat 16v all had orginal alternators and had done over 100,000 miles :!: The C-Max uses a newer type of alterntor as it smart charges. To be honest with you, I can't see what was wrong with just a normal alternator, smart charging probably gives an extra 0.01 MPG
