we have the factory fit sat nav and are hooled. so much so that i want a portable unit with western europe, UK and US maps (intercahngeable I presume). I want voice and the ability to stick it in me pocket when I go walkies. SO what do you all suggest? Garmin looks good? Cheers C

Thanks for the parenting advice all. I feel comfortable that they would like this and therefore I want them to have this. No, the do not have mobiles nor TV's in their rooms. They travel a lot with me and work and are on planes quite a bit. I will ask Mr Branson to sit them in seats without the seat back TV's and get them to count the hosties if you like. Hi, Yep thought of that and its much cheaper I know. But I wanted it nice and neat adn also my three year old will grab it and break it if she could reach it :) I have decided that the car has lost so much in value I am gonna keep it until it falls apart!!! C

Evening all Can you suggest sites/links to show me if I can retro fit a nice roof mouted DVD for the kids in the rear? Any idea of what sort of cost this would be? Will it be neat and wire showing free? Thanks C

YOu can buy em though, bloody expensive I think. Keep an eye on eBay though as I have seem them there also.

Hi Marco1 Yes this has happened to us. The reason teh alarm goes off when you open via the key is that you need tostart the car within 10 seconds (I think) of opening it up. This problem has been reported here before, if my memory serves me correctly it is to do with the signal being used by something else near by and its nought to worry about. If I get a mo, I will do a search for you. C

how can this affect the fuel comsumption? does it mean the cmputer is even more shot to bits?

OUr car is over a year old and this smell arrived today for the first time and g-d it was awful. Was riding it a little too much in about half an hours traffic. My ace dealer says its the materials and no harm was done apart from its stinking.

For sure. There are decent ones. Chris has a good one and I would reconmend Lifestyle Ford in Tunbrigde Wells to anyone (and indeed have and they were very very pleased.)

if you are not getting the sat icon up then you may have a lose cable - its common I am told. Pop back to yuor dealer and get them to check it. You could also try holding both NAV and MEM for 10 secs, enter ****as the PIN and run the self tests. C

i think tomtom was saying that the low spec sat nav changes the clock via thegps - nice C

There is one in the c-max boot too. They look the same from teh front don't they - like big brother little sister :)
